Economic Explanation Of The Influence Of Education On Fertility Of Second Childbirth:Theoretical Logic And Empirical Evidence

At present,aging population in our country is grim and the number of labor force is decreasing year by year.These population problems have affected the economic development of our country seriously.In 2016,China implemented the“two-children”policy nationwide.the report of 19 th CPC National Congress said that it is necessary to study the strategy of population growth.All this shows that the China government attaches importance to population issues.There are many factors that influence people’s fertility of childbearing.Among them,education level,the most importance variable characteristic of people,not only relates to the level of human resources in our country,but also relates to the intrinsic motive force of the country’s economic development.Therefore,the analysis of the relationship between education and childbearing will have strong practical significance and be able to combine with our national conditions.Therefore,the analysis of the relationship between education and childbearing will be practical and significance and be able to combine with our national conditions.This article uses the data from CGSS database for 2010,2012,2013 and 2015 year.The content of the article is divided into three aspects: Firstly,based on the existing research results and theories,this paper determines the two major channels through which education affects the second childbirth fertility,the labor market and the marriage market.Secondly,with Stata software,using linear regression,Logit,Probit model to test whether education will affect the fertility of second childbirth.Thirdly,we test whether or not education has a statistical relationship with channel variables with linear regression.then,we test whether channel variables affect the fertility of second childbirth significantly,so that education,channel variables,fertility of second childbirth are linked.The article is divided into five chapters,the first chapter and the second chapter are introduction,literature review and theoretical derivation.The third chapter and the fourth chapter are empirical tests to analyze whether education affects the fertility of second childbirth then use channel analysis method to test the significance and influence direction of channel variables and calculate the influence degree of channel variables.The fifth chapter is the conclusion and suggestion.The main conclusions of this study are:(1)As the years of education increases,the fertility of the second childbirth will decrease.(2)Compared with the rural household,the fertility of second child of the urban household is lower.(3)Education will raise people’s labor income and work stability.Compared with men,women’s labor income result in “opportunity cost increase”,The rise in the cost of birth caused by women’s income will lead to a decrease fertility of second childbirth.(4)Education delayed the age of first marriage and raised the standard of spouse selection.In the marriage market,the higher age of first marriage and “match effect” in mate selection will reduce the fertility of second childbirth.(5)Marriage market has more influence on the second child’s fertility than the labor market.
