Since the implementation of China’s “universal two-child policy”,although the number of new-born populations did increase in the first and second year of the New Deal, there was a significant drop afterwards. There was a big gap with the expectations of relevant departments, experts and scholars, and the results were beyond the expectations of the general public. The “coldness” of “universal two-child policy”,has not only caused contemporary people to refocus their attention on the issue of “fertility”,but also caused people to reflect on why family planning has been“unbound”,but China’s population fertility rate has not increased significantly.Contemporary Chinese society is often described as “anxious”,and people have begun to use “anxiety” to describe the overall characteristics of a society and the social mentality of the people in it.In this social atmosphere,“fertility problems”have also begun to be described as “fertility anxiety” and become a part of social anxiety.“Fertility anxiety” reflects a certain psychological characteristic of contemporary fertility groups, and is connected with many social factors such as contemporary youth’s living conditions, fertility concepts, future expectations and so on,making the psychological problem of “fertility anxiety” has gradually become a“social problem” nowadays.Under the above-mentioned social background,it is particularly important to explore the social causes and countermeasures of fertility anxiety. This study intends to take the author’s hometown,F-works,located in Tangshan City, eastern Hebei Province,as a case, using a semi-structured interview method to describe and analyze the fertility anxiety status, causes and countermeasures of residents in F-works.Introduce the general situation of F-works,and outline the life trajectory of the three generations of F-works’ residents(“freedom” grandfather generation,“family planning” parent generation,“universal two-child” children generation)On the basis of this, citing the model of “Analysis Framework of Fertility System” of demographic sociology, the following research conclusions are drawn:Due to the historical event of the Great Tangshan Earthquake in 1976 and its unique cultural background of the “urban-rural junction”,F-works presents a fertility mental state that is different from the duality of urban and rural areas, and the young generation living in it has fertility anxiety can be divided into five aspects: First, the socio-economic power(high-cost “refined” parenting;the expected increase in the quality of children and education anxiety;long-term anxiety intertwined with economy, pension, medical care and housing).Second, fertility(physical anxiety caused by declining fertility).Third, the reproductive culture(intergenerational conflicts of reproductive cultures on infant feeding and education).Fourth, the concept of fertility(the influence of the difference and diversity of fertility concepts between generations on fertility psychology and behavior).Fifth,socio-political forces(the effect of fertility policy adjustment on the generation of fertility anxiety). The residents of F-works have the following measures and methods to cope with fertility anxiety: First, the family space structure of “two doors and a bowl of soup”.Second, the time allocation model of intergenerational cooperative parenting.Third, the division of labor between men and women is relatively similar in gender roles.Fourth, intergenerational family interaction based on the principle of “a bowl of water must be balanced”.Fifth, the strategy and application of local relations and relationships.Sixth, the post-modern self-narrative between tradition and modern culture. At the same time,it also analyzes the stressful fertility anxiety of unmarried pregnancy and its unique significance for understanding fertility anxiety.“Fertility anxiety” is a product of social and historical construction. This“neurosis of the age” is social misfortune and may not be completely resolved in the short term. But from the perspective of “fertility anxiety”,which reflects the decline of the concept of unified fertility and the rise of diversified fertility concepts(the cultural diversity, but the concepts of fertility may be more not diversified, but shows a trend of convergence),fertility anxiety also means “anxiety of choice”,which is also a kind of freedom and luck of the times.
