Reading comprehension is one of the necessary abilities for individuals to participate in social life.Although students with mild intellectual disabilities have decoding abilities,they still have great difficulties in reading comprehension.In the study of reading comprehension teaching for students with mild intellectual disabilities,reciprocal teaching and graphic organizer strategy are the most widely used.Reciprocal teaching is an effective method of reading instruction by means of interaction and role reversal between teachers and students,and the main content is to teach four reading comprehension strategies.Graphic organizer strategy is an effective reading comprehension strategy.It emphasizes that students construct a chart which presents the text structure and main content to improve their reading comprehension ability.This study combines the prediction,questioning,clarification,and summary strategies with the graphic organizer strategy,and sets up the implementation steps of the comprehensive strategy,and adopts explicit teaching before reciprocal teaching.The purpose is to explore the effects of reciprocal teaching combined with graphic organizer strategy on improving the reading comprehension ability and the mastery of reading strategies for students with mild intellectual disabilities.This study adopted a single subject,A-B-A 'design.Three students with intellecture disability were recruited to receive reading comprehension instruction which lasts nine weeks.The researcher used self-compiled reading comprehension test and reading strategy usage observation table to investigate the reading comprehension performance and the use of reading strategies.The collection of date includes 26 times for one student.And the date was analyzed in methods of visual analysis and C statics.The conclusions are as follow:1.Reciprocal teaching combined with graphic organizer strategy has immediate and maintenance effect on reading comprehension ability for students with mild intellectual disability.2.Reciprocal teaching combined with graphic organizer strategy has immediate and maintenance effect on students' surface meaning comprehension.3.Reciprocal teaching combined with graphic organizer strategy has immediate and maintenance effect on students' deep meaning comprehension.4.Reciprocal teaching combined with graphic organizer strategy has immediate and maintenance effect on mastering reading strategies for students.The research puts forward the following suggestions:We can use reciprocal teaching combined with graphic organizer strategy and easy-to-understand materials,and make clear steps of strategy and give appropriate hints when necessary when to teach students with mild intellectual disabilities reading comprehension.
