The essence of meaningful learning theory is that learners make connections between new and old knowledge,perfect their cognitive structures and use the new knowledge in practical problems.The purpose of this study is to propose teaching strategies based on meaningful learning theory to the teaching of natural geography in senior high school.The purpose is to enrich the theoretical research of educational psychology in classroom teaching and to provide first-line geography teachers with teaching references.Firstly,the core concepts of meaningful learning theory are studied and analyzed by literture review.Secondly,through interview and questionnaire survey method,we can understand the current conditions of high school geography teaching.Afterwards,according to the investigation of the theory and current teaching situations,six targeted teaching strategies are proposed.Finally,the teaching strategies are applied to practical teaching to conduct empirical research and testify the feasibility and effectiveness of teaching strategies.The study finds that there are some problems in the teaching of natural geography in senior high schools,which are the degree of the knowledge system in the middle school and junior high school is not high,teachers do not pay attention to the construction of students' knowledge system in teaching,teachers' teaching strategies are not targeted,students lack the initiative in sorting and summarizing the knowledge of geography and students have a general ability to use knowledge.Six targeted teaching strategies are proposed,which are classifying teaching for knowledge attributes,inspiring student's learning motivation,rationally arranging prior organizers,paying attention to the convergence of the knowledge system of middle school and use integraged teaching strategies.The result shows that teaching strategies proposed based on meaningful learning theory can help students improve geography grades and acquire abilities to construct new and old knowledge,perfect cognitive structures and utilize knowledge.
