In the process of new curriculum reform,biology curriculum teaching not only pays attention to students' knowledge acquisition,but also pays more attention to the cultivation of students' subject quality and promotes the all-round development of students.In order to respond to the requirements of quality education in the new era,language expression ability is an indispensable component of the students' ability to develop in an all-round way.However,students' mastery is not ideal.Biological chart teaching is a common and intuitionistic teaching method in biology.It is helpful for students to understand the main points of knowledge by using graphics and tables to explain the biological phenomena and their relations and to reveal the rules of biology teaching.It also helps to improve the students' ability of logical thinking and the writing ability of biological language.This study first elaborated the concept of biological language expression ability,then analyzed the recent three years biology high exam questions and students' answer questions in Guizhou Province,and classified the causes of language expression errors.Based on the above analysis,the teaching practice of using chart teaching to train students' language expression ability in the third year review class was carried out.The analysis of the exam questions and the students' answers to the non-choice questions of the biometric college entrance examination in Guizhou province from 2015 to 2017 indicate that biology has long focused on the examination of language proficiency,but the students' language ability is not optimistic.The main problems include: Unclear understanding of knowledge points,inaccurate mastery of knowledge points in the examination of topics,unclear logical thinking,confusion of causal logic,incorrect writing of biological terms,and incorrect writing of biological symbols.In the senior three biology review course,the basic knowledge review lesson is used to deepen the students' understanding of the knowledge points,strengthen the logical thinking of the students and consolidate the correct writing of the biological language.In the review course of the exercises,the practice of graph teaching is carried out by using the judgment and word expressions to train the students' ability of language expression.The analysis of the score in the biologic test papers of Guiyang city before and after the teaching practice shows that the average achievement of the practice class is 29.49 points higher than the average achievement in Guiyang after carrying out the biology chart teaching to cultivate the students' language expression ability,which is 6.45 points higher than that before the practice and the average performance in Guiyang.further analysis of the answering questions for students in the practical class indicates that the students are unclear because of the key points of the questions,the knowledge of the questions in the examination is inaccurate,the logical thinking is not clear,and the causal logic is disordered.Errors in the writing of biological terms,incorrect writing of biological symbols,errors in blanks,errors in composites,and misclassifications were all reduced: 1.66%,2.02%,2.61%,5.40%,1.48%,2.57%,0.02% 10.29%.The results show that the biology chart teaching is conducive to the cultivation of students' language expression ability,promote students' mastery of biological knowledge,and improve students' academic performance.The research results will provide reference for further training students' language expression ability and improving their comprehensive quality.
