Nowadays,with the continuous improvement of people's living standards,sports has gradually become an important part of the life of the public.In the dual media background of the new media era and the vigorous development of the sports industry,sports athletes are gradually attracting more and more people.Sports news reports interpret sports events and sports news figures and become the vane to guide public opinion.Chinese table tennis players,as the "business card" of China's national sports on the world stage,have received widespread attention from the public.The values displayed by athletes inside and outside the arena have a certain influence on the public,society and the country under the spread of the media.Therefore,the characteristics of the media image of Chinese table tennis players,how the media shape the image of Chinese table tennis players and their significance are all worthy of discussion.This paper selects the news reports of Chinese table tennis players from the People's Daily from 2000 to 2017 as the research object,and collects 262 samples of analysis units.Based on the literature method,the content analysis method,case analysis method and mathematical statistics are used.The law,in-depth analysis of its reporting style and content characteristics,combing and discovering the "People's Daily" report since the 21 st century has built a rich and multifaceted image of Chinese table tennis players.The study found that since the 21 st century,People's Daily has gradually weakened the concept of victory and defeat and honor in the process of constructing the image of Chinese table tennis players,creating a healthy public opinion environment for the return of competitive sports to the true nature;gradually increasing Chinese table tennis players The shaping of individuality image,exploring the character quality of outstanding characters inside and outside the athletes,and creating a three-dimensional media image with individual athletes' individuality.The People's Daily's image construction of Chinese table tennis players is a process of continuous improvement and maturity.At present,the distortion of the media image caused by the over-perfection of the image of the athletes,and the sports culture of the athletes The construction of social responsibility image in communication and social publicity propaganda needs to be improved.It requires the continuous improvement of the state,society,media workers and athletes themselves.
