The 18th CPC National Congress was held in 2012.Socialism with Chinese characteristics has opened a new era.The arrival of a new era has given society new vitality.In the new era,talents are the key to development,education is the cornerstone of talent growth,and teachers are the lifeblood of educational development.As the most influential mainstream media in China,People’s Daily has played an important role in building the media image of teachers in the new era,and its report content is worth studying.Taking the time of the 18th National Congress as the research starting point,this paper analyzes all the news reported by teachers in the People’s Daily from November 8,2012 to November 8,2021 by using the research methods of case analysis,text analysis and content analysis,summarizes the media image of teachers constructed by the in the new era,and discusses the changes and reasons of the media image of teachers in the People’s Daily in the new era,It also puts forward reflection and prospect for the report.In the specific chapter content,the first chapter of this paper uses the content analysis method to collect and analyze the content of teachers’ news reports in the People’s Daily in the new era.Focusing on the number of reports,the layout of reports,the gender of teachers,the types of teachers,the tendency of reports and the theme of reports,this paper uses quantitative data to intuitively outline the outline characteristics of the media image of teachers constructed by the People’s Daily in the new era.The second chapter uses the research methods of text analysis and corpus linguistics.Firstly,it establishes the title corpus and text corpus of teachers’ news reports in the People’s Daily.On the basis of the corpus,it uses Python and Nvivo to analyze the corpus,explore the specific characteristics of teachers’ media images in the new era from the micro level,and refine and classify the teachers’ media images reported by the People’s Daily.Based on the analysis of the first two chapters,the third chapter summarizes that the media image of teachers presented by the People’s Daily is mainly divided into three types:work image,life image and negative image.Among them,the work image includes "the image of teachers who are proactive and improve themselves","the image of teachers who stick to their posts and work hard","the image of teachers who have several jobs and spare no effort" and "the image of teachers who are selfless,dedicated and dedicated".The life image includes"the image of a teacher who does not care about gain or loss and does not speak of fame and wealth","the image of a teacher who does not turn back and sacrifice his life for justice","the image of a teacher who gives back to the society and dedicates his youth" and "the image of a teacher who cares for students and regards himself as his own".The negative image is "the image of a teacher who is greedy for money and moral anomie".The fourth chapter compares the teachers’ news reports of the People’s Daily before and after the new era,and finds that three changes have taken place in the media image of teachers in China since the 18th National Congress.The reason for these changes in teachers’ image is not only the improvement of the overall quality of teachers in the new era,but also the influence of teachers’ view and news view in the new era.The fifth chapter puts forward that the construction of teachers’ media image in the new era of the People’s Daily has the shortcomings of "unbalanced setting" of the news agenda,"excessive deification" of the positive image and "one stroke" of the negative image.In the future,we should pay more attention to the teachers’ group,reasonably plan the report content,strengthen the effective utilization of the negative news and do a good job of positive guidance,so as to establish a more real and objective teachers’ media image.This paper aims to guide the audience to objectively and accurately understand the teacher media image created by the mainstream media since the new era by combing the news report content and teacher media image of the People’s Daily in the new era,in order to provide a certain optimization path for the mainstream media to shape the teacher media image,so as to enhance the professional identity of China’s teachers and promote the continued vigorous development of China’s education.
