The Ordinary High school Biology Curriculum Standard(draft)in China has put forward that the basic requirement of thigh school biology course implementation is training students'key competencies.As an important part of the bioloy key competencies,rational thinking plays an important role for students to adapt the requirement of social development and personal life.Based on the literature analysis and the current situation of invest:igation,and guided by the the theories of cognitivism and constructivism,this paper conducts the research on training students,rational thinking through inquiry teaching.The result of questionnaire and interview for teacher shows that teachers are not clear about what rational thinking is and lack the strategy on training students' rational thinking.The result of questionnaire for student shows that many students are not good at processing the biology knowledge by using the rational thinking and lack the habit of thinking in this field.What's more,the result of questionnaire for student also shows more than half of the students are confused in the process of studying biology.Based on the above findings and combined with studying relevant theoretical,this paper present some strategies to train students' rational thinking through inquiry teaching.The strategies are as follows:(1)Teacher should deepen the understanding of the biology key competencies and pay more attention to training students,rational thinking.(2)Teacher should have an reasonable choice for inquiry teaching's content and attach importance to the quality rather than quantity.(3)Teacher should carefully create an inquiry teaching situation to improve students' learning initiative.(4)Teacher should focus on the training of thinking methods and guide students to master the application of thinking methods gradually.(5)Teacher can explore the form of inquiry homework to promote the development of students' rational thinking after class.(6)School should increase investment in education to build the biological inquiry teaching environment,Finally,these strategies are described in detail with the representative instructional design cases,with the hope of facilitating the new curriculum standards implementation and the key competencies training.
