Based on the M3 ST framework of Mooney's statistical thinking, this paper conducts an investigation, analysis and research on the statistical thinking level of high school students, aiming to determine the statistical thinking level of high school students, and at the same time, analyze the mistakes made by high school students in the process of problem solving and the reasons why they are at this level. The main research is as follows:1.Using the M3 ST framework of Mooney statistical thinking to measure the statistical thinking level of high school students;2.Analyze the specific reasons for high school students' statistical thinking. The survey results show that the overall statistical thinking level of high school students is at the transitional level of quantitative level, and the students are at the quantitative level of description, organization and simplification, and characterization. At the level of analysis and interpretation, students are at the transitional level. The reasons for students' statistical thinking are as follows: firstly, students do not attach much importance to statistical knowledge, and their grasp of basic concepts of "marginalization" is not firm, resulting in vague concepts.Secondly, students' ability of information extraction and expression of subjective questions need to be improved.Without a relatively systematic statistical knowledge network in their minds, they cannot quickly extract effective information for knowledge transfer in the process of solving problems, and then choose appropriate methods, and it is difficult to give correct statistical inference. Finally, students mainly use deterministic mathematical thinking rather than statistical thinking to solve problems.Based on the above research, three teaching Suggestions are given: first, cultivate students' interest in learning statistics, and improve their attention to statistical knowledge learning; The second is to promote the formation of students' knowledge network and strengthen the training of statistical inference ability.Thethird is to advocate a learning atmosphere of independent exploration and cultivate students' statistical thinking.
