A Study On The Group's Working Methods Involved In The Spiritual Comfort Of The The Elderly Lost Only Child In The City

Under the background of the implementation of the one-child policy,a large number of families lost only child have emerged in China.As time goes by,more and more parents lost only child gradually enter the old age,the elderly lost only child are childless and often suffer from psychological difficulties and lack of spiritual comfort.The state attaches great importance to the plight of the elderly lost only child,prompting the government to increase investment and make efforts to reduce the survival risk of the elderly lost only child.On the one hand,the government continuously raises the standard of grant at the level of economic;On the other hand,through the purchase of third party social work services to provide indirect spiritual comfort services for the elderly.Under this background,Wuhan municipal government has also responded positively.By purchasing social work services,and has carried out a large number of social work projects focusing on the elderly lost only child,and has made continuous efforts to solve the living and mental problems of thousands of elderly lost only child.During the three-month professional internship,the author participated in the project named,"X caring for the elderly lost only child"in Wuhan.This project applies the group work method,aiming to provide spiritual comfort service for the elderly,and meet the spiritual needs of the elderly.The group work method is adopted in this project,which is mainly based on two reasons:(1)the number of social workers is insufficient currently and the large scale of elderly lost only child have objectively limited the possibility of adopting the case work method in this project;(2)the development of group activities can help the elderly gain more comprehensive self-cognition in the group,realize the transformation in psychology and behavior,and establish the social support network of the elderly and gain group level.The specific process of group work is divided into four stages:the preliminary planning stage,the ice-breaking stage,the mature stage and the ending stage.Based on the social learning theory and social support theory,the group workers carried out seven group activities according to the developmental group work mode,service process and strategy skills.The evaluation results of the project are shown as follows:in terms of process evaluation,the goals and tasks are well completed,the execution force is strong,the quantity and quality of group activities are guaranteed,and the service project can be delivered to the elderly lost only child in time;In terms of effect evaluation,the lack of spiritual consolation of the service objects was effectively alleviated,and the service objects had a high degree of satisfaction with the service and social workers.Finally,the project was successfully completed.The process of group work intervention exposed four deficiencies:(1)the number of group workers is insufficient and the professionalism is not strong enough;(2)the design of group activities is idealized,and the implementation effect is not as expected;(3)funds for group activities is insufficient and complicated reimbursement approval process;(4)serious absence of supervisory function and lax evaluation procedures.In view of these shortcomings,the author puts forward four aspects of suggestions:(1)based on the values of social work,training high-quality,professional talent team;(2)focusing on the group characteristics of the elderly,the service should be oriented to meet their needs;(3)broaden the sources of funds and simplify the reimbursement approval process;(4)strengthen the construction of supervision team and improve the scientific evaluation of group work.
