Housing Stratification And Life Satisfaction Of Labor Migrants

As a place where modern residents live,housing is not only one of the important dimensions of social stratification,but also an important factor affecting residents' life satisfaction.Previous studies on social stratification paid less attention to the phenomenon of housing stratification caused by the differences in individual housing conditions,and this part of the study mainly focused on the group of urban residents and did not extend to the large base of labor migration,and there were few studies that combined the phenomenon of housing stratification with residents' life satisfaction for empirical analysis.This paper focuses on the housing stratification caused by the differences in the housing conditions of labor migrants and probes into the influence mechanism between the housing stratification of labor migrants and their life satisfaction.After analyzing and summarizing the relevant studies on the housing stratification and life satisfaction of labor migrants,this paper believes that the housing level difference of labor migrants in the destination area will affect their life satisfaction,and puts forward the hypothesis that the housing stratification of labor migrants will significantly affect their life satisfaction based on the living characteristics of labor migrants.Through the analysis of the data of China's labor force dynamics survey in 2016,this paper finds that: first,the housing stratification of current labor immigrants can be summarized as "general rent class","high-level rent class","general self-built housing class" and "high-level purchase class" from low to high.Secondly,the housing stratification of labor migrants has a significant positive impact on their life satisfaction.Specifically,the higher the housing stratification level is,the higher the life satisfaction will be.Third,subjective status identity is the intermediary that labor migrants' housing stratification affects their life satisfaction.Housing stratification significantly affects their subjective status identity and thus has a significant impact on their life satisfaction.The lower the housing stratification level of labor migrants,the lower their subjective status identity will be,which will lead to the lower life satisfaction of labor migrants.Therefore,it is necessary to improve their subjective status identity by improving their housing level so as to improve their life satisfaction.
