Off-campus Boarding Students as a group rented outside the school, they will be completely out of school and family control in their spare time,it usually means a high risk of deviation behavior. In this study, eight off-campus boarding students from five middle schools in a city of Hainan Province were selected as research objects. From a superior perspective, using semi-structured interviews and educational narrative research, collecting first-hand information from off-campus boarding students and trying to explain the living conditions of off-campus boarding students, including after-school activities and major contacts.Reveal the types of social control of off-campus boarding students and analysis of the generating paths of their social control from a dynamic perspective.According to semi-structured interviews,off-campus boarding students spend most of their spare time in traditional activities, includes school-related activities, sports, entertainment, hobbies and so on.The main object of their daily life is the peer group, they have less contact with their parents, when they interact with peer groups that experience similar experiences, they are not facing temptations and challenges. However, when they interact with social youth peer groups, they will face temptations and challenges. The types of social control of off-campus boarding students are mainly divided into self-control,indirect control of the family, direct control of the landlord and control of peer groups.Self-control is the habit of lifestyle students, the self-confidence of learning and the pursuit of education and career aspirations, they will take the initiative to invest their time in learning,so there is no time to consider and conduct deviation behavior activities.Indirect control of the family is when the Off-campus boarding students face biased behavioral temptations or unsatisfactory academic performance, they will consider the attitudes and reactions of the parents, and whether their behavior will cause damage to their emotional relationship with their parents, thus making them stop or avoid deviation behavior. The landlord can maintain the order of the dormitory and play a good role in the management and supervision of the dormitory life of the off-campus boarding students. The main contacts of off-campus boarding students are peer groups.Roommates under one roof can play a direct or indirect control role. The emotional connection between peer groups in different quarters can also enable them to follow traditional values and pursue personal success. Finally, this study summarizes three generating paths of social control for off-campus boarding students. The first path is the direct formation of high self-control by external control, this is a social control operation mode for off-campus boarding students who have strong self-discipline and pursue academic success. The second path is to gradually form a high self-control after an intermediate transition controlled by others, others are mainly parents and peer groups, and the role of peer groups in this process is particularly important. The third path is that the process is circuitous and gradually forms a high self-control,this type of off-campus boarding students in this path returns to control after losing control, and then loses control again, ultimately form a stable self-control.
