Economic globalization,cultural diversity,and the development of new media on the Internet have all brought profound influence on various fields of our society.The values and ways of thinking of students have been shocked,and the university's traditional ideological and political education on ideas,carriers,conflict solutions,and public opinion supervision methods could not fully meet the development requirements in the new era.This is a new challenge faced by the social governance function of ideological and political education in Chinese universities.In this social background,the 19 th National Congress report puts forward innovative social governance methods,and proposes solutions to the better functioning of the social governance function of ideological and political education in universities with a new perspective and method.The functions of ideological integration,conflict resolution,inspiring and collecting and guiding public opinion are the four basic functions of the social governance over ideological and political education in universities.In the face of the development characteristics in the new era,the utility of these functions are not obvious,and when exploring the reasons,we could find that the concept and content of ideological and political education in universities are quite outdated,the new conflicts in university are frequent,the concepts and methods of education need to be improved,and the supervision of the public opinion and the control of the environment are insufficient.In order to better realize the social governance function of ideological and political education in universities in the new era,it is necessary to summarize the traditional education experience and combine the new requirements in the new era to explore specific ways to solve the disadvantages of various functions.The concept of student-oriented,diversified mode of teaching and concept of opening education promote the function of ideological integration,strengthen the mental health education in universities,two-way communication between teachers and students,self-analysis of undergraduates,and guide students to use the network correctly to promote the function of conflict resolution.We need to make full use of existing carrier forms and develop new carrier forms to promote the use of inspiring function,create a good favorable environment,improve the ability to collect information on grievances,formulate early warning and diversion programs,and strengthen network supervision to promote the collecting and guiding of the public opinion function.
