Research On The Influence Of American Football On The Personality Of Boys

In recent years,the personality cultivation of boys has received great attention from the society,and domestic and foreign experts have proposed the phenomenon of“boy crisis”,.This thesis aims to explore the influence of American football on the personality characteristics of 7-10 year old boys from the four dimensions of psychoticism,extroversion,nervousness and lie personality,and in order to provide lessons for experience of the personality of Chinese boys.This thesis mainly uses literature review method,questionnaire survey method,experiment method,interview method and mathematical statistics method.Firstly,through the information from literature and interview to enhance the cognition of American football and personality dimension,and provide theoretical and practical basis for research;45 boys who participated in the 14-week American football as the experimental group,42 boys who did not participate in the American football as the control group;The Eysenck Personality Development Questionnaire(EPQ)is used to examine the personality dimension score of 7-10 years old boys,then compared the personality dimension scores of the experimental group with the control group.The results show that for boys who participated in the 14-week American football,the proportion of the extroversion dimensions has the tendency toward introversion,extroversion and typical extroversion,the proportion of the nervousness dimension has a tendency to the middle position,the tendency to the nervousness and non-nervousness.The 14-week American football participation has a significant effect on the extroversion dimensions of the post-test of the experimental group which shows an upward trend(P=0.016<0.05),and there is a significant effect on the nervousness dimension and shows a downward trend(P=0.018<0.05,but there is no significant difference between the psychoticism and lie dimensions(P>0.05).Compared with the boys who joined in daily sports,there are no significant effects in the four dimensions of child personality for the boys who participated in the 14-week American football(P>0.05).Moreover,there is no statistical significance between the pre-and the post-test in boys who joined in daily sports(P>0.05).The age difference has a significant impact on the score of lie dimension of the boys who participated in the 14-week American football in pre-and post-test(P1<0.01,P2<0.05).This thesis considers that 7-10 years old is a rapid development stage of the boys’ four personality dimensions of psychoticism,extroversion,nervousness and lie.The personality of boys participated in American football is extroverted and brave,and with the growth of age,they have the higher the level of simplicity and childishness.This thesis suggests that boys can enhance their ability to communicate with others,foster team and adventure spirit,and enhance emotional stability by participating in confrontational and team sports such as American football;teachers should pay attention to the personality and all-round development of boys,and increase the collective and team-based physical education activities;family education should conform to the characteristics of boys’ personality development,encourage and support boys to participate in more sports activities,and create a good family atmosphere for the healthy development of boys’ personality;society should pay attention to the impact of popular culture on the development of children’s personality creates more favorable conditions for the growth of boys.
