In recent years, the state has adopted a series of major policies and measures to constantly strengthen rural compulsory education and promote the development of rural education.Boarding schools are an important part of rural compulsory education. The good development of boarding schools in rural areas helps to improve the quality of rural education and to promote educational fair and balance in different places. However, due to the characteristics of rural boarding schools, the students staying in school for a long time and the difficult management, the exercise of teachers'disciplinary power is not standardized and reasonable.Based on this situation, the author investigated teachers and students in a rural boarding middle school M in Luoyang,Henan province. This research adopts the questionnaire survey, including teacher questionnaire and student questionnaire. Each questionnaire is prepared from the four dimensions of the understanding, the methods, the effect and the factors influencing punishment. The questionnaire survey was distributed among 40 teachers and 201 students in M middleschool. As a result,it was found there were some following problems:Firstly, the teachers' inaccurate understanding of discipline is reflected in their lack of clear and definite understanding of the educational attribute of discipline, and it is paradoxical whether teachers have the right to discipline.Secondly, the ways and methods of discipline are not appropriate.Teachers discipline students with subjectivity and cannot objectively investigate the truth of disciplinary violation, which cause unreasonable and inappropriate ways to discipline. In addition, after disciplinary actions, there was little guidance given to students, and the 'rehabilitation'work was not in place.Thirdly, the effect is not ideal, which can only have a short-term effect on students.Students don't truly correct their mistakes because of discipline. Finally, social media and parents' attitudes towards teachers' discipline have a negative impact on the development of normal teaching in schools, which restrict and hinder the implementation of teachers' proper discipline. For these problems, the following strategies for optimizing and improving the disciplinary power of teachers in rural boarding schools are proposed from three aspects:society, school and teachers. In terms of society, laws and regulations about teachers' discipline will be improved and social media will be called on to report truthfully educational events. As for schools,at first, the educational ideas should be updated,in addition, scientific and reasonable management methods will be used.Next,it's important to make school life and students' extracurricular activities much more colorful. Then,a comprehensive evaluation system on teachers should be established and the single assessment standard should be changed. And then, teachers, students and their parents should be organized to receive the relevant disciplinary education and learning. Finally, effective cases about educational discipline should be shared and learned and promote exchanges and cooperation among teachers. In the eyes of teachers, firstly, the learning about relevant educational laws and regulations should be reinforced to enhance the sense of laws.Secondly, the pedagogy and psychology should be studied further to serve class management.Thirdly, teachers should find out the truth of disciplinary violations and clarify the purpose of discipline. Then, according to the students' characteristics, teachers must pay attention to ways and means in disciplining students carefully. And then pre-service disciplinary education and training for new teachers should be provided. At the end, teachers should learn to be the master of their emotions and improve their psychological quality.
