In December 2017,the Ministry of Education promulgated the "Biology Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools",which regards "scientific inquiry" as one of the four core qualities of biology,students to grasp the basic ideas and methods of scientific inquiry in the process of discovering and solving problems,and to improve their practical and innovative abilities.On the basis of Dewey's pragmatism theory and Piaget's constructivism theory,this paper summarizes the meaning and types of scientific inquiry by means of literature analysis,content analysis and educational investigation.Taking the inquiry activities in the module of "Genetics and Evolution" as an example,this paper analyses the column setting,open level,distribution characteristics and functions of the module's inquiry activities.It also investigates the teaching practice of scientific inquiry activities in senior high school biology classroom.It is found that the module of "Genetics and Evolution" contains rich contents and various forms of scientific inquiry activities.Teachers can promote scientific inquiry to a certain extent,and students can achieve remarkable learning results.The author believes that the scientific inquiry activities of the module "Genetics and Evolution" should add more content related to real life,increase or decrease part of the inquiry activities appropriately,give full play to the role of teaching materials,attract students' attention,stimulate and maintain learning enthusiasm,and maximize students' ability of scientific inquiry;the author also believes that biology teachers should update their educational concepts and change their teaching thinking.We should fully understand and grasp the contents of the module of Genetics and Evolution,refine the contents of scientific inquiry,conduct scientific inquiry in a planned and organized way,guide students to conduct scientific inquiry correctly and efficiently,and improve students' comprehensive quality.The research results have certain guiding significance for the scientific inquiry activities in senior high school biology teaching.
