Social development refers to a process in which the children interact with the social life environment,gradually acquire the social moral norms of behavior and social behavior skills,and gradually grow into social persons from natural persons.In such process,children gradually step into the society.So,social development is an important part of the healthy development of children.Maternal parenting style is a vital factor to influence the social development of young children.Quantitative research method and qualitative research method are adopted to finish the thesis.With the help of ‘Social Development Scale of Children aged from 3 to 7',by HuiChang Chen,professor of Beijing Normal University,and ‘Maternal Parenting Style Questionnaire',by Lee,professor of Taiwan University,the author surveyed 1004 children' mothers,among which there were 548 children being left-behind.On the basis of analyzing the questionnaire,the author selected one mother separately from those who use the four kinds of parenting style differently to interview.The research results can be listed as the following:Firstly,compared with the non-left-behind young children,the left-behind ones meet some weakness in their social development.Age,gender or whether they are one-child or not can be some factors that will influence the development of the left-behind young children.Secondly,there are some marked differences between maternal parenting style for left-behind young children and for non-left-behind ones.The marked difference of maternal parenting style for rural left-behind young children can be listed as the following: mothers' age,mothers' education,the left-behind young children' gender,and whether the left-behind young children are one-child or not.Thirdly,among the four maternal parenting styles,the authoritative and enlightened one can be the best one to promote the rural left-behind young children' development in social cognition,will,internal and external tropism,self-concept,and independence.Fourthly,among the four maternal parenting styles,the autocratic one can be the best one to promote the rural left-behind young children' development in social rules,peer relationship,non-aggressive tropism,and ambitious will.Fifthly,among the four maternal parenting styles,the spoiled type can be the most unfavorable one to promote the rural left-behind young children' development in social cognition,will,internal and external tropism,and independence.Sixthly,among the four maternal parenting styles,the stand-by type can be the most unfavorable one to promote the rural left-behind young children' development in social rules,peer relationship,non-aggressive tropism,and ambitious will.But it is beneficial to promote the left-behind young children's development of independence.Based on the research conclusion,the research aims to improve mothers' ability to educate their children.Also,it aims to give some suggestions to promote the rural left-behind young children's social development.
