At the beginning of the 21 st century,China began a new reform of basic education,hoping to cultivate citizens who have the ability of self-regulated learning,are able to adapt to social development and have scientific literacy.In the outline of Curriculum Reform for Basic Education,published in 2001,it was mentioned that curriculum resources should be exploited and utilized vigorously.Chemistry reading books are important chemistry curriculum resources,which can make up for some shortcomings of chemistry textbook,but the existing chemistry books do not play their due effect.This study takes chemistry balance,an important part of high school chemistry learning,as an example,in order to compile a chemical reading book that can help students to learn independently,broaden their horizons and enhance their interest in learning and to provide a certain amount of advice for the compilation of chemistry reading books.In this study,the chemistry teachers and students in a middle school in Changsha were interviewed,and the difficulties in learning "chemical balance" were analyzed.This paper made a comparative analysis of the contents related to chemical balance in the mainstream chemistry textbooks of China and the United States,analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the compilation of chemistry textbooks in the twocountries,and put forward the principles of compiling the chemical balance reading book.On this basis,the chemical balance reading book was conceived and designed from the aspects of content structure,plate,column and so on,the chemical balance reading book was compiled.In this study,the effects of the chemical balance reading book were investigated: two classes with the same level in a middle school in Changsha were selected as the experimental group and the control group,and the experimental group was selected to read the self-compiled chemical balance reading book,and the control group was selected to read the related contents in the chemistry textbook of the people's Education Edition,the students in the two groups completed the same exercises in the same time,in order to investigate the students' mastery of the knowledge after reading the reading book.A questionnaire survey was conducted in the experimental group to investigate the evaluation about the reading book.and to investigate the teachers' evaluation and suggestions on the reading book by inviting the chemistry teachers of a middle school in Changsha to read the self-compiled reading book.Through the investigation of the compiling effect of the reading book,it was found that most of the students can master the basic knowledge of the book after reading the chemical balance reading book,the chemistry balance reading book has a certain degree of learning.The reading book has readability,interest,activity,science and sciencepopularization,the content is closely related to life,industry,is conducive to the cultivation of students' scientific literacy and broaden their horizons.
