The citizens scientific literacy is an important symbol to evaluate the comprehensive national strength of a country. Therefore, it has brought worldwide attention. For a long time, there is non-scientifc phenomenon appeared inordinately in the teaching of Chinese basic education. With the rapid development of science and technology, and the development of curriculum reform, the cultivation of science literacy has been the primary goal of scientific education. To realize this scientific educational goal requires teachers with high-level scientific literacy. Chemical science belongs to natural science, which is the basic course and one of the main course to cultivate students’ scientific literacy. This paper mainly discusses the current situation of the scientific literacy in service middle school chemical teacher and future chemical teacher, tries to provide reference material to improve chemical teacher’s better scientific literacy as soon as possible, and provides useful reference for education and teaching of chemical major in normal universities and colleges.Based on literature review and theory study, it made questionnaire of middle school chemical teacher’s scientific literacy, and investigated part of junior school teachers and model senior high school chemical teachers in the province. At the same time, it also did questionnaire for studentsmajored in chemistry of each grade in our college. After researching, the basic status and existing problems of the chemical scientific literacy of chemical teachers in the province are explored. Therefore, the conclusion is gotten, and the advice for teacher training and the teaching of chemical major can be provided, which is hoped to help improve the scientific literacy of chemical teachers.The research results show that, at present, the students in chemical education major of normal university do not understand scientific principles well. With poorly understanding chemical history of science and related chemical frontier, their investigation ability in chemical experiment and experimental design ability are quite poor. The scientific literacy of junior school chemical teachers is not high enough, which embodies on the indifference to science curriculum. Moreover, there is also problem in the depth of understanding scientific principle. They can`t understand chemical knowledge correctly and lack experimental comprehensive literacy. They believe textbook blindly and can`t easily find out the scientific problems in textbook. The scientific literacy of high school chemical teachers is relatively high, but they almost know nothing about experimental separation method and analytical instrument applied in modernization. What is more, their teaching idea is still based on coping with examination, which don`t really turn to the idea of cultivating chemical scientific literacy.
