Under the modern traffic background, this paper attempts to explore the changes of the wharf culture in Pushi in the process of transition by the field investigation, and use the Pushi wharf in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture as the observation center. This article mainly analyzes from three parts. The first part introduces the development of the field base and the modern transportation system, analyzes the important position of Pushi Wharf in the Lishui River Basin, and explains the historical background and reasons of the decline of Pushi wharf under the background of modern transportation system,so that draws two concepts :the era of the Great Pier and the era of the community wharf. As Russell once said: "The reanson of Chinese traditional civilization's end is not the new internal weakness, but the progress of Western transportation."As a material form, the road connects different places and carries the movement and circulation of people and things in space. At the same time, the road has become a metaphor and symbol of the spread, integration and change of culture. For a particular community,The impact of the road is extremely profound. The second part is the main part of this paper, which combines the relevant local literature and materials to understand and analyzes the deep connotation of Pushi wharf culture.Culture and cultural changes are the most fundamental and unchanging theme of anthropology.Malinowski also proposed that cultural processes are cultural changes. In this paper, the wharf culture mainly includes material culture: personnel organization structure, the function of wharf, the supporting facilities of wharf and the spiritual culture of wharf : This section describes the value orientation of the narrative of the wharf by the comparison of history and reality, besides,it describes the change law ofthe wharf culture is stated. The third part reflects on the relationship between modern transportation and cultural change, and also talks with the concept of “road learning” proposed by Professor Zhou Yongming from the Department of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin Madison.
