Purpose in life is a motivational concept that can consistently give the individual a sense of direction,purpose and meaning.The development of purpose in life begins in childhood or adolescence and lasts for a lifetime,middle school students are in the critical period of development of their purposes.The development of purposes in life in adolescence will affect their future work choices,self-achievement and moral development.Pursuing meaningful purposes in life will not only have a positive effect on the individual's body,but also have a positive impact on their psychology.Lack of purposes in life will cause individuals to become confused,empty,and overwhelmed,which is not conducive to the healthy development of individuals.Therefore,understanding the development of middle school students' purpose in life,helping students to form concepts that emphasize purposes in life,and strengthening the education of middle school students' life purposes have important theoretical and practical significance.The purpose of this study is to understand the group's cognition of purposes in life,the content of purposes in life,the factors affecting purposes in life and the impact of purposes in life on their behaviors,and finally provide relevant educational advice for the development of middle school students' purposes in life.Through qualitative research methods,through the self-edited interview outline,in-depth interviews were conducted among students from the first grade to the third grade.The interview text is coded using grounded theory and finally generates theory.(1)In the open coding of interview materials for middle school students' perception of the concept of purposes in life,a total of 157 units of meaning,13 concept categories are summarized,and finally summarized into four corecategories,including time,motivation,value and orientation.(2)In the open coding of interview materials for middle school students' purposes in life,a total of 531 meaning units and 12 concept categories are summarized,and finally summarized into three core categories,including self-oriented purposes in life,family-oriented purposes in life,and socially oriented purposes in life.(3)In the open coding of the interview data on the factors affecting the purposes in life of middle school students,206 meaning units and 6 concept categories are summarized,and finally summarized into two core categories,including internal factors and external factors.(4)In the open coding of interview data on the behavioral impact of purposes in life on middle school students,a total of 138 meaning units and 8 concept categories are summarized,and finally summarized into four core categories,including the guidance of the goals,forming a good mentality,self-effort,development and improvement and seeking support from others.The conclusion of this study is that middle school students' perceptions of purposes in life include time,motivation,value and orientation.The purposes in life of middle school students include three dimensions:self-oriented purposes in life,family-oriented purposes in life and social orientation purposes in life.Factors affecting the purposes in life of middle school students include students' own interests and characteristics,family factors,objects of worship,media and books,career prospects and school factors.The impact of purposes in life on the behavior of middle school students includes the guidance of goals,forming a good mentality,self-effort,development and improvement and seeking support from others.
