"Secretarial Practice" is a compulsory-core-course for the students who learning the major of secretaryship in secondary vocational schools.This course has a strong practicability because of the secretarial skills such as writing,meeting,handling affairs,communication and coordination skills are implemented.It is not professional skill training,but the cultivation of learning motivation first advocated by secondary vocational education institutions.Although most of teachers pay attention to students' learning motivation,but the motivation effect is often unsatisfactory.Some students are not clear about the learning purpose of this course,and their learning motivation has not been fully stimulated.ARCS motivation model is composed of four elements: attention,relevance,self-confidence and satisfaction.On the basis of stimulating students' attention,links can be established between students and the knowledge they have learned.After that,students can gain self-confidence and satisfaction by proper training.In this paper,we will investigate the learning motivation of students by integrating ARCS motivation model into the teaching process of "Secretarial Practice" in secondary vocational schools.Firstly,based on literature search,the motivation model of ARCS and its application in teaching were investigated.Secondly,in order to study the current teaching situation of "Secretarial Practice",the first and second grade students of secretarial major in four secondary vocational schools in Guangxi were investigated by questionnaires.In addition,we could also obtain qualitative and quantitative data of learning motivation of students by classroom observation and interviews.According to the investigating results,the attention strategy,related strategy,self-confidence strategy and satisfaction strategy of "Secretarial Practice" can be designed.Finally,according to the motivation strategy,three action research of teaching were carried out in the secretarial class of Grade 18 of L Vocational School in Nanning.Each teaching design was modified and improved according to the previous research.After the action research,by the horizontal and vertical comparison of the students' questionnaires,we found that the secretarial students' learning motivation have been improved in attention dimension,related dimension,self-confidence dimension and satisfaction dimension.The results showed that ARCS motivation model can help stimulate students' learning motivation in "Secretarial Practice".In the teaching process of "Secretarial Practice" which guided by ARCS mode,the perception and exploration consciousness of secretarial students were improved.It also helped students reduce the anxiety of course learning,clarify the learning objectives,improve the ability of knowledge construction and gain their self-confidence.In addition,ARCS teaching can also create a good teaching atmosphere,and plays an important role in improving the interaction between teachers and students,students and students.
