Under the background of the transformation and upgrading of the national industrial structure and the booming development of 5G technology,the society’s demand for skilled personnel in electronics technology is increasing.Secondary vocational education,as the main channel for training skilled personnel,must strengthen the training of electronic professionals and deliver more skilled personnel in electronics to society."Electronic Technology Fundamentals and Skills" is an important basic course for middle-level electrical majors,which is of great significance to cultivate skilled electronic talents.It is the key to improve the quality of teaching in the electronics classroom that how to stimulate students’ learning motivation and motivate them to actively engage in theoretical and practical learning.Among the many motivation theories,the ARCS model of motivation is the most systematic doctrine that integrates motivation theory into instructional design.Therefore,this study is dedicated to explore the teaching application of ARCS motivation model in secondary electronics technology courses,aiming to improve students’ learning motivation and classroom teaching quality,and provide reference and reference for front-line electronics technology teachers.This study was conducted in three parts to investigate the application of the ARCS motivation model in a middle-level electronics technology course.The first part introduces the background,content,current situation and significance of the study.The literature research method is used to sort out the current situation of domestic and foreign research on ARCS motivation model and determine the research ideas;meanwhile,the concepts of learning motivation and ARCS motivation model are defined to clarify the theoretical basis of this study.The second part is a survey of the current situation,using questionnaires and interviews to investigate the motivation level of secondary school students and the current situation of teaching electronics technology courses.The quantitative and qualitative analyses revealed that secondary school students lacked active learning awareness,had low attention span in learning,had negative attitudes toward the perception of learning content and personal future development,and lacked self-confidence and satisfaction in learning.The reasons for this,in addition to personal factors,are also related to the lack of variety in teaching methods,unclear goal setting,lack of depth in guiding attribution,and imperfect teaching evaluation.The third part is instructional design and application,which firstly explores how to use the ARCS motivation model as a guide to design e-technology classroom teaching and learning activities,focusing on the five aspects of instructional principles,front-end analysis,strategy design,process design,and evaluation design.According to the model,the corresponding motivational strategies are proposed from the four dimensions of attention,relevance,confidence and satisfaction;The basic teaching process is as follows: classroom introduction to attract attention → content presentation to establish connections → task exploration to build confidence →feedback evaluation to gain satisfaction.Secondly,we carried out teaching practice based on the theoretical design,mainly adopts quasi-experimental research method to implement differentiated teaching in two parallel classes,and analyzes practical effects from two aspects of learning motivation and learning performance.Finally,after a practical study,it was found that with the intervention of the ARCS motivation model,students’ motivation levels and academic performance were significantly improved.And due to the small sample size,short practice time and lack of relevant references,this study could be further improved.In general,the ARCS motivation model has a high practical value in solving the problem of students’ lack of learning motivation,and its application in secondary electronics technology classroom teaching has certain feasibility.
