In current society,core competency has gradually become the focus of Chinese education and the orientation of cultivation.In 2016,Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China announced ‘Core Competencies and Values for Chinese Students’ Development’,which regarded comprehensive development as its core,and viewed cultivating innovative talents who adapted to social development as its goal.It is a major initiative to put forward core competency.It is necessary to update educational concept and establish the foundation for China to cultivate innovative talents since kindergarten.Chess,an intelligence sports game which integrates competition,art and science,helps train kids’ logical thinking and improve their learning competency.At present,with the launch of chess teaching in kindergarten,problems such as complex rules and abstract memorization come out.The programming software Scratch,developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology can create interactive animation,games,and plots,as well as provide games-based teaching environment,which is beneficial to kids ’understanding of abstract and complex courses.First,this study introduces research significance of introducing Scratch into chess teaching in kindergarten,and look up overseas and domestic research status of chess teaching and application of Scratch,and contents and methods of this research,and determines its research ideas.Next,with the analysis of basic parts of instructional theory,it reviews different instructional theories concerned with this study,and builds instructional design models of chess teaching in kindergarten based on Scratch.This study also launches overall development and design of chess teaching courses.It also designs teaching models of chess teaching in kindergarten based on Scratch and enumerates development of three typical teaching cases.By means of practical teaching application of chess courses in kindergarten based on Scratch,different methods such as Quasi-experimental Method,Questionnaire Survey,Interview and Naturalistic Observation Method are applied to analyze teaching effectiveness on preschoolers.In the end,it generalizes the research results of chess teaching in kindergarten based on Scratch and points out its innovations and shortcomings.The teaching effect of chess courses in kindergarten based on Scratch is better than traditional chess courses.After kids use such chess teaching,their learning interest,attention,persistence and understanding on rules have been improved.Teachers’ application of Scratch helps them design instructional software and also helps them spare time to observe the class.In addition,it helps solve teaching problems in creating teaching situations.
