A Study On "Buddha-like Youth" In The Process Of Social Change

The group "Buddha-like youth" has gradually become a heated topic since the end of 2017,when the word "Buddha-like" spread on the young's Moments.The term "Buddha-like youth" has been viral.It is not only the symbol of social change but also the manifestation of social problems.It can pay more attention to the "Buddha-like youth" group and the in-depth interpretation of the "Buddha-like youth" phenomenon in term of the sociological perspective intervention.From the perspective of social change,this study focuses on daily life picture and the social background of "Buddhalike youth".On this basis,the study reveals the essence of the "Buddha-like youth" phenomenon.This study interprets the "Buddha-like youth" group through the perspective of social change with the theories on everyday life as well as modernity and individuation,by using netnography,in?depth interviews and questionnaire survey methods.After defining basic concepts,this study first analyzes three aspects of daily life of the "Buddha-like youth".On the consumption,because of the invasion of materialized consumerism,they show the characteristics of reducing consumption and spending a lot of money on interest.On the social interaction,introverted and extroverted "Buddhalike youth" show great difference in initiative and frequency of communication.As for the daily concept,with the "liberation" of individuals,the "Buddha-like youth" show the willingness of not marrying and having children.Additionally,they pay attention to arranging activities in leisure time.Secondly,focusing on the formation mechanism of the "Buddha-like youth",the rapid social transformation and abundant material conditions,the risk society with uncertainty and individualization,the instrumental rationalism in the urban field,the promotion of the mass media and the diversified means of communication,which have contributed to the emergence and growth of the "Buddha-like youth" group.The emergence of "Buddha-like youth" is the result of the interaction between the social reality and the coping strategies of the post-1990 s generation,which results in the youth role tension,youth role withdrawal and youth role performance.What's more,the identification based on the three dimensions of discourse,identity and spirit is the premise for the stability and growth of the "Buddhalike youth" group.Whether it is active labeling,self-governance or mild resistance,the emergence of "Buddha-like youth" is closely related to a series of social structural contradictions and focus on the pain point of the society.As a result,we should concern about the roots of this phenomenon,rather than criticize the "Buddha-like youth" blindly.
