As one of the important components of scientific literacy of citizens,its educational value is to help students form a correct scientific view,methods and processes and foster students’ critical spirit and scientific emotions.Pre-service teachers who are about to become teachers,their views of nature of science will affect the future teaching sessions and subtly affect the formation of students’ views of nature of science.However,most of the current investigations on the views of nature of science directly use foreign questionnaires,or unilateral use the modern views of nature of science.The focus of this paper is how to study the views of nature of science of pre-service teachers based on the Chinese cultural and social background.Based on the pre-service physics teachers’ views of nature of science,this research constructs the theoretical framework of classical and modern scientific essence firstly.The questionnaire mainly refers to Zhang Hongxia’s questionnaires and SUSSI,then survey the physics pre-service teachers.The research objects are junior and senior students of physics majors in two normal university in Zhejiang and Shanghai.In addition,we investigated some physical teachers in Zhejiang and Shanghai,then analyzed pre-service physics teachers’ views of nature of science and compared with physics teachers with the method of hierarchical cluster analysis by SPSS software.Conclusions gained are as follows:First,the pre-service physics teachers have different types of views of nature of science,which can be divided into vague,classic,modern,and post-modern views of nature of science.There are also differences in the scores of different categories in the various dimensions of views of nature of science.Second,there are two types of pre-service physics teachers’ views of nature of science.Some pre-service teachers have evolved from vague to classical or modern views of nature of science,and some have jumped to the extreme post-modern views of nature of science.Third,the pre-service physics teachers’ views of nature of science have a slight improvement after entering the job.However,due to the fast track training,many pre-service physics teachers have mistakenly turned into a radical views of nature of science.Based on the above research conclusions,we put forward three suggestions for the cultivation of the pre-service physics teachers’ views of nature of science in China.Firstly,we should follow the development rules to cultivate the teachers’ views of nature of science.Secondly,we should pay attention to classified cultivation of the pre-service physics teachers’ views of nature of science.Thirdly,we should evaluate physics teachers’ views of nature of science in a diversified way.
