The human is living in the early years of the 21 st century,this century has witnessed the fastest development of science information,high-tech and advanced technology than ever before.The achievements that human has obtained in recent years have changed the lives of many nations in the world.Vietnam is regarded as a developing country,and it also suffered many long wars in the past.However,under the influence of modern science and technology revolution,Vietnam is day by day on the way changing its appearance.The market economy has brought many “miraculous” impacts to socio-economic development.But on the other hand,it is the reason for the rising of selfishness,self-interest and bad habits.Many social evils are daily damaging traditional moral values of as well as corrupting the beauty of traditional culture.The downside of the market mechanism has turn a large part of people in society in general and some of teenagers and students in particular to become slaves of money,have the easygoing lifestyle and turn their back on national cultures and traditions.The reality proves that the future of each nation greatly depends on the young generation in general and the students in particular.Whether we can sustain the Socialist orientation when the youth is lack of ideals,not awareness of preserving traditional national values? In the context of moving to the new stage of the country,what ‘preparation' we made for them? The first and foremost is ‘national tradition'.The very worth-proud traditions established during thousands of years of national construction and defense make us join ‘global integration' without being‘dissolved',develop without ‘losing root',respecting traditions without being‘conservative'.Those have helped Vietnamese youth in general and Vietnamese students further improve their ability,stand firmly in front of many harsh challenges of modern life.Traditional morality is an important part of traditional culture,then becomes an indispensable part of the work of moral education for Vietnamese students nowadays.It is necessary to combine nurturing modern moral values with traditional ones,enthusiastically construct the worldview,outlook on life for students.It is needed to instruct and educate students about moral ideology in the context of the current diversified market economy;enhance the spirit of good traditional morality;maintain and promote educating traditional moral values inside the school to make the most of positive values.With that meaning,the issue of educating traditional moral values becomes urgent in the current period.That is also the reason why the writer chose “The problem of educating traditional moral values for Vietnamese students today via researching case studies from universities and colleges within Hanoi city” as the research topic.This thesis takes current education of traditional morality for Vietnamese students as the research object.The main research methods applied include:conducting literature reviews on Vietnamese morality education,doing questionnaire surveys and interviews with Vietnamese students.There are two main parts in this thesis:The first part is the introduction which presents the background of the research,the purpose and meaning of the research,literature review,systematic arguments of research,research methods;and points out the innovations and deficiencies of the research.The second part is the research's main contents,which are deployed in 5major chapters:The first chapter: The general introduction on definition,function,connotation,characteristics and meanings of traditional morality education applied to Vietnamese students.The second chapter: the analysis of morality education for Vietnamese students on some aspects: patriotism;humanitarianism;the spirit of working,saving and innovation;studiousness and respect for teachers;unity spirit.The third chapter: the methods of morality education for Vietnamese students:improving the value of traditional ethics;paying attention to media and communication;enhancing college students' life and education environment.The fourth chapter: the existing problems and the causes in morality education for Vietnamese students.By conducting assessment on morality education in Vietnam universities and analyzing research results and relevant researches from other authors,the thesis figures out four main problems and causes.The fifth chapter: From the above research results and analysis,the thesis puts forwards some suggestions to raise the efficiency of Vietnam morality education,strengthen the university students' awareness about traditional morality,and enhance social intervention to establish a new standard for students in the new era.
