As one of the core defects for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD),Social communication disorders have an oblivious impact on their interpersonal communication skills as well as daily adaption behaviors.The evidence-based practices for ASD,issued by international authoritative organizations such as National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders and National Autism Cente,have referred Video Modeling(VM)as one of the effective methods on social communication disorders for children with ASD.VM has gained widespread attention from international investigators,yet in Special Eduaction of China it is still in beginning stage with few empirical studies.In order to localize studies of VM in the field of autism in China,this study attempts to performe an intervention of VM on the social communication disorders of children with autism in China through a single case design.First,based on the paradigms of evidence–based research,the study developed a Meta-analysis of the intervention of VM on social communication disorders of children with ASD in the recent decade,in order to understand the intervention effect of video modeling on social communication disorders of children with autism and develop an evidence–based practice.Second,combing the advice of special education experts,the actual situation of special education school,the experience of researcher and the characteristics of participants,the study adapted an evidence–based practice to conduct a study of VM on the social communication disorders of three children with autism in China through a single case design.The result of Meta-analysis of single case studies showed that VM has moderate effect on social communication disorders for autism.The intervention effect of the social response is superior to the social initiation and social participation,the effect of non-figure video modeling is better than figure video modeling,the effect of mixed video modeling is superior to adult video modeling、animated video modeling and video self-modeling.VM also has moderate effect on social communication disorders for autism in various of intervention setting,video modeling scenarios,intervention patterns and different implementers.Mixed video modeling、animated video modeling and adult video modeling showed effective intervention effects and maintenance effects on social communication disorders of children with three autism though empirical study.The result of effect sizs analysis showed that different types of VM have strong effect on different participants,however,different types of VM display a slightly different effect on different subjects.In conclusion,some suggestions were demonstrated based on the above findings and the current application status of VM in China.
