The Curriculum Standard of Biology in General Senior Middle Schools(2017 Edition)puts forward the basic idea of "focusing on the big concept in teaching content".The big concept of biology is further condensation and summary based on the core concept of biology.Therefore,the learning of the core concept of biology plays a fundamental role in constructing the big concept of biology for students,guiding students to form the correct concept of life,and fostering students’ biological core literacy.Under this background,it is necessary to find out the problems in teaching the core concepts of biology in senior middle schools,and give the targeted teaching suggestions.Based on the teaching core concept of biology in senior middle schools,it is firstly defines the core concept of biology and the the concept of biology,and then sorts out the relationship of the biological fact,the general concept of biology,the concept of biology,and the concept of biology.We analyse the existing problems of teachers in teaching the core concepts of biology in senior middle schools,and then explores the effective teaching strategies according to those problems using several methods,such as the literature research method,the questionnaire method,and the data statistical analysis method.Spss22.0 Software was used in our research.The results show as follows:(1)basic descriptive analysis: 55.3% of teachers think that the concept course is very important in biology teaching;60% of teachers can clearly understand the connotation and extension of the core concepts of biology;60% of teachers know the teaching of core concepts of biology;43.5% of teachers can often pay attention to the theoretical research on the teaching of core concepts;(2)correlation analysis: it is significant correlation between the teachers’ attention,understanding,and mastery to core concepts with students’ score loss;and teachers’ application of concept maps was significantly correlated with students’ interesting degree to concept maps;(3)difference examination: it is significant correlation between teachers’ attention,understanding,and mastery to core concepts with teachers’ teaching experience;and teachers’ guiding students to participate in core concept’sformation,application,and deepening are significantly different with teachers’ teaching experience.According to the results of the investigation,we give three suggestions(students’ level,teachers’ level,and schools’ level)improving the teaching of the core concepts of biology in senior middle schools.The suggestions are as follows:(1)teachers’ level:enriching teachers’ own knowledge reserve,improving professional level,creating situation actively,stimulating student’s interest,paying attention to use language,and experience concept formation personally;(2)students’ level: conducting comparative analysis and classified teaching;practicing and consolidate new knowledge in time;applying the concept map to deepen the core concept;(3)schools’ level: playing great importance to school-based training to promote the professional development of teachers,enriching the curriculum resources of schools.
