The physical fitness of the adult citizen is of great importance to the prosperity of the society.The physical fitness and the economic development interact with each other.This paper compared the morphological characteristics of Beijing citizen between 2000 and 2005 according to the data of national civil constitution monitoring.Objective:To figure out the relationship between economic development and morphological characteristics of adult citizens.Method: 1.Literature research Consulted the China Statistical Yearbook 2000,China Statistical Yearbook 2005,Annual report forms of China vital statistics 2006 and some other related information for fully understanding of the situation of study.2.Expert Interview Consulted some experts on physical fitness for economic index selection and the following indexes were chosen,GDP,PER CAPITAL GDP,Engel's Coefficient,Per Capita Consumption Expenditure,Primary,Secondary and Tertiary Industry.3.Statistics One-Sample T Test was adopted for statistical analyze,and the rate of growth and the tendency of each index in 2000 and 2005 were calculated.The data of national civil constitution monitoring of Beijing citizen from age 20-59 in 2000 and 2005 were used,these data were grouped into 3 levels as excellent economic development,ordinary economic development,and poor economic development according to geographic position and economic development.These data were also grouped into 8 age-groups at every 5 years interval.The total sample size in 2000 was 5518 in which 2935 were male and 2583 were female;the total sample size in 2005 was 5776 in which 2793 were male and 2983 were female.The total sample size of these 2 years was 11294.Conclusion: 1.In 2000 and 2005,the mean of height,weight,BWH and BMI of rural female resident age from 50-54 decreased.2.The mean of female and male residents at age 50 showed some differences and similarities.3.The social-economy development of Beijing in 2000 and 2005 showed an increase tendency as to the economic index while the physical fitness showed an decrease tendency except for certain indexes,all of which were caused by multiple factors.4.The mean of morphological index in 3 different economic development zones id not parallel to the economic development.
