The relationship between adult development and adult education is an important problem in the studies of adult education theory. Adult education is one kind of peculiar environmental effect which combine with the peculiar needs according to the development of the adult body and mind. That as an important aspect in the development of adult mentality, adult social development is one kind of key factor to restrict adult education theory and practice. At the same time, adult education also ought to bring the function to boost the optimization of adult social development into play. The main theories which concerned the social development in the period of adulthood are as followings: Psychoanalysis Theory, Behaviourism Theory, Humanism Theory, Social Cognition Theory and Social Culture Theory. Adulthood can be separated into three big stages, that are early adulthood, middle adulthood and late adulthood, and have peculiar development characteristics, task and educational needs in the every stages. Facing the fact of ignoring the current situation of adult social development, adult education ought to renew the thinking, to response the calling of the adult social development. Owing to the adult social development that adult education should establish the educational value that promote adult social development; pay attention to bringing the adult education socialization function into play; construct the curriculum that promote adult social development; mold adult education process that in the center of experiencing and practice activity; reinforce adult education theory and application study based on adult social development.
