Action research originates from the United States,the first idea of action research is brewed in the Dewey's education theory of pragmatism.The action research has been developed for more than half of a century in the United States,Britain and Australia.The action research has experienced a history of more than thirty years.The time it has been used in the field of preschool education has been nearly 30 years.As a type of research,it connects the "action" and "research" and the"practice" and "theory".But how is the situation of action research used in the field of preschool?What researches have done in the field of preschool in our country?How to do it?What is the quality?In order to find the answers of those questions,this thesis chooses 180 pieces of master dissertations of applied action research in field of preschool in Taiwan from 1999 to 2014.Using content analysis,by category,coding and text analysis,the findings are as follows:In response to "what action research is being used in the field of preschool?" thefindings are as follows:1.From the whole the development of action research in the field of preschool education in Taiwan,it has experienced three periods:exploring try period(1999-2002),seven years of rapid growth(2003-2009)and five years stable wave period(2010-2014).2.From the selected topic,the most of which belong to the category of "teaching",followed by "child development" class,then "a special education activity","courses","teachers"," special education","education and society",the fewest are "kindergarten management","class management","plays",and"the education evaluation";From the source of selected topic:"the daily reflection","experience" and "the difficulties of teaching" are the three great sources of topic selection,then followed by "interesting","inspired by the children","policy support","theory of inspiration","care for disadvantaged children","the experience of action research"and "cultural heritage".In response to "How to do it?",the findings areas follows:1.The teacher of kindergarten is the main part of action researcher;2.1 to 10 years' of teaching experience is the summit of action research;3.One cooperation partner is the commonest coordination number in action research;4.Improving the quality of education and promote teacher's professional growth is the commonest motivation;5.Themselves service kindergarten or class is one of the main implementation of the action research;6.One semester or two semesters is highest in the duration of action;7.Collaborative action research is the most common type of action research;8.Three most commonly used of methods of data collection is "documents analysis method","observation"and "interview",then is "questionnaire survey" and "measurement method",and the least is "case study method" and "experimental method";9.In action research has specific cycles,two times or three times is the commonest.In response to "What is the quality?",the findings are as follows:1.1%of the action researcher is practitioners;2.All the action research has a clear research problem definition;3.97%of action research has the cause analysis;4.89%of action research has the test of reliability and validity,the most commonly used inspection method is "triangular correction method";5.Only 43%of the action research refers to research ethics;6.94%of the action research uses the cycle of "knowledge,thinking,and action";7.94%of the action research has internal validity.Based on the above research results,in order to promote the development of action research in the field of Chinese preschool education the researchers put forward two suggestions:from top to bottom to promote action research and from bottom to top to explore of action research.1.From top to bottom to promote action research include five aspects:first,to strengthen the construction of theory of action research;Second,the universities or research institutes to open "action research classes";Third,the government to encourage or facilitate "action research seminar";Fourth,the government or education institute set up a special tutoring programs action research;Fifth,the government and education department to regulate mentoring system in the kindergarten.2.From bottom to up to explore action research firstly needs kindergarten teachers to overcome fear of action research;Second,kindergarten teachers should strive to improve their ability to find questions;Third,kindergarten teachers should grasp the standard procedure of the action rescarch.
