The proposal of green chemistry has been responsive and sought after by researchers in various countries.So far,green chemistry education has penetrated into the middle school chemistry class.In order to investigate and explore the level of understanding of green chemistry concepts among middle school students,examine their problems in understanding the concept of green chemistry and analyze the causes,so as to propose a suitable transformation strategy,in order to effectively penetrate green chemistry education in middle school chemistry teaching.Suggestions that can be borrowed.This study combed 12 related concepts including green chemistry,raw materials,atomic economy,energy,solvent,etc.,and plotted the green chemistry concept map.Based on this,a two-tier diagnostic test on green chemistry of middle school students was compiled.Taking 280 students in grades 9-12 as the survey subjects,to explore the understanding of middle school students on the concept of green chemistry from the concept of green chemistry,the twelve principles of green chemistry and the application of green chemistry.The study found that:(1)The level of understanding of green chemistry concepts among middle school students is relatively low,especially in the field of the concept of twelve principles of green chemistry;(2)Students' understanding level of green chemistry concept increases significantly with the increase of grade;(3)The understanding level of green chemistry concept of excellent students is obviously higher than that of medium students and poor students;(4)Male and female students do not have significant differences in the understanding of green chemistry concepts;(5)The better the chemistry score,the higher the level of understanding of green chemistry concepts.Through the descriptive statistical analysis of the data and the collation of the student interview data,the following problems and causes are obtained:(1)The channels for students to acquire green chemistry knowledge are relatively narrow;(2)The content of green chemistry on chemical textbooks is less;(3)Students have less opportunities to obtain experimental operation;(4)Students are lack of in-depththinking on problems;(5)Students have a biased understanding of green chemistry;(6)Teachers' green chemistry literacy needs to be improved.Therefore,suggestions for changing the status quo of middle school students to learn green chemistry are proposed,including:(1)Suggestions for schools: strengthening the management of chemical experiments;conducting competitions for green chemistry innovation experimental design;and conducting special lectures on green chemistry.(2)Suggestions for teachers: select typical examples,infiltrate green chemistry education;change students' understanding of green chemistry;learn green chemistry knowledge for life,and inject new vitality into the classroom.(3)Advice for students: change the traditional way of chemistry learning;broaden your horizons and read more books related to green chemistry.
