“Civic Education” is an important subject of modern civilization and the only way to cultivate citizens suitable for the development of modern society.It reflects the current situation and developing trend of national development.It is an important component of the development of a country,and has drawn much attention all over the world.However,at present,problems arise such as slow and backward development,low quality of education and so on during the modernization of our country.Furthermore,our country is now in a difficult period of advancing the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity,and greater demands have been placed on citizen rationality,citizen quality,citizen ability and so on,thus resulting in the demand to explore the theory and practice of Civic Education.Looking at other countries,such as the United States,Britain and Singapore,they all attach great importance to Civic Education,and have gradually formed their distinct educational orientation and outstanding characteristics in the traditional social background in the course of the history,which can effectively provide a more in-depth and mature route,reference and enlightenment for the development and exploration of Civic Education in our country.This thesis mainly studies the comparison of Civic Education among the United States,Britain and Singapore and the enlightenment to Chinese Civic Education.Therefore,the research on the development of Civic Education in the United States,Britain and Singapore is the basic chapter of the thesis.The third chapter mainly discusses the development of Civic Education in the above three countries and summarizes them in stages,systematizing the historical evolution of their Civic Education.As a result,Civic Education in the United States,Britain and Singapore is integrated into a framework.The comparison and enlightenment of Civic Education in the United States,Britain and Singapore is the focus of this thesis,which is emphasized in chapter four and chapter five.Exploring the differences and similarities of Civic Education in the three countries is the basisof deep analysis of its internal causes,which provides a realistic basis for studying the development experience of Civic Education in the three countries and the enlightenment to Chinese Civic Education.Based on research above,the fifth chapter summarizes three pieces of important inspiration: Giving full play to the leading role of the government in Civic Education,emphasizing the vital role of schools in Civic Education,and bringing into play to the promoting role of society in Civic Education.
