Problem solving is an important way to measure students' mastery of knowledge, and it is also a basic activity mode for teachers to teach and students to learn. It can be seen that the key to middle school mathematics teaching is to solve mathematical problems.Stolyar said that the teaching of mathematics is the teaching of the language of mathematics. Therefore,it plays an important role in mathematics teaching to train students to represent mathematical problems with skillful use of mathematical language and cultivate their ability to solve problems with mathematical methods. This paper mainly studies the concept and importance of language representation in mathematical problem solving, investigates the barriers to the language representation in junior high school mathematical problem solving and puts forward some teaching suggestions. In Chapter one, research questions are proposed. This chapter expounds the research background by discussing the importance of language representation in solving math problems among junior high school students, reviews literature of the previous researches on mathematical language and mathematical representation at home and abroad and demonstrates the research significance from the practical educational value and theoretical value of language representation in solving math problems among junior high school students. In Chapter two, related theories are introduced. This chapter is divided into six parts. The first three parts respectively discuss the theory of representation, mathematical representation and mathematical language representation. The fourth part expounds the theory of mathematical language barrier. The fifth part defines the language representation barriers in solving math problems, and the sixth part analyzes the levels of each type of language representation barrier in mathematics problem solving of junior high school students.Chapter three is an empirical study of language representation barriers in solving math problems among junior high school students.Based on relevant research and my own understanding, this chapter sorts out the test paper of language representation barrier in math problem solving of junior high school students. There are five kinds of barriers, including language recognition barrier, language understanding barrier, language conversion barrier, language organization barrier, and language expression barrier, which are subdivided into 18 kinds of barriers according to the representation form, each of which is divided into three levels.According to the survey, the percentage of students at each level under each kind of barrier was analyzed, and then a discussion was carried out to clarify the status quo of language representation barriers in math problems among junior high school students, and it was concluded that language organization barriers and language conversion barriers were the main manifestations of language representation barriers in math problems among junior high school students.Chapter Four is an empirical study on the causes of language representation barrier in mathematics problem solving of junior high school students.Based on the survey of the test paper and the enlightenment of previous studies, this chapter collects the survey data, interviews the representative cases, deeply discusses the causes of the language representation barrier in the math problem solving of junior high school students, and concludes that students' weak grasp of basic knowledge and fear of difficulties, teachers' lack of emphasis on mathematical language, and teachers' irregular mathematical expression are the causes of the language representation barrier. In Chapter five, teaching suggestions are made.Based on the results of the investigation and analysis, the author suggests the corresponding teaching strategies for the language representation barrier in mathematics problem solving of junior high school students.
