As early as the 19th century, western economists began to study the problems of employment and unemployment.Since then, there has been a large amount of literature on employment issues.Employment is a big issue for people's livelihood and has always been highly concerned by academia. In recent years, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, big data and other fields have developed rapidly.A large amount of literature has discussed employment issues before, but most of the previous studies have been carried out in terms of industrial structure and investment. In recent years, scholars have begun to study employment issues from a new perspective, such as energy consumption and technological progress and so on.With the changing environment of the times, the direction and angle of employment research are also changing. The analysis of employment issues should be in line with the times' environment. In the current environment of energy conservation, environmental protection,e-commerce,and digitization,it is of great practical significance to analyze the influencing factors of urban employment to better promote employment in urban areas and maintain social stability From the perspectives of urban environment, investment in science and technology, energy consumption,e-commerce,and the level of enterprise informatization, this paper analyzes the influencing factors on urban employment rates under different urban employment levelsThis paper selects panel data from 27 provinces in China from 2013 to 2017,and uses panel fixed effect regression,two-way fixed effect regression, and adaptive lasso quantile regression to study the impact of urban employment rates.Factors studied include urban environment, technology investment, energy consumption, medical facilities,e-commerce,and enterprise informatization. And compare the estimated results from different models. The conclusions are as follows1.The level of e-commerce and software business development has a positive correlation with urban employment. As the quantiles increase, the coefficient of influence increases first and then decreases2.The average urban employment wage has a significantly positive correlation to the urban employment rate, and its influence coefficient first decreases and then increases with the change of the quantile.Raising average wages will also boost urban employment.3.The PM2.5 concentration is only significant at some high quantiles, but the variable is not significant at other quantiles. This difference also indicates that different levels of urban employment areas have different effects on the air environment.4.In the panel two-way fixed effect model, the unit GDP energy consumption shows a significant negative correlation, which means that energy saving and consumption reduction are beneficial to promoting urban employment.Under the adaptive lasso quantile regression, the energy consumption per unit GDP is not significant. It shows that the energy consumption per unit of GDP is significant when considering the time effect, and is also an influential factor that cannot be ignoredTo study the effect of urban environment, technology investment, energy consumption,e-commerce,and enterprise informatization on China's urban employment rate has the following points:First,it can enrich the theories related to employment.Second, the research direction is more appropriate to the current social environment and more time-sensitive.Finally,unlike previous literature on employment research, the factors considered in this article involve many aspects, and also provide new ideas and strategies for achieving stable employment in different regions of China.
