Similarity triangle is one of the most important tools in geometry research and also a key knowledge in junior middle school mathematics study.However,because similar triangles can be associated with a lot of knowledge,the test on it has wide scope,high difficulty,and deep thought.It requires students to have the ability to use flexibly the basic knowledge,basic skills and basic thinking methods of mathematics to analyze and solve problems,so it has become one of the most difficult problems of mathematics in junior middle school.In the teaching practice,the teaching effect of solving problems on similar triangles is not ideal either.Based on cognitive load theory,this paper studies how to optimize the teaching design of similar triangles to effectively control cognitive load and promote students' effective learning.This study adopts several research methods,such as literature review,in-depth interview,classroom observation,and questionnaire survey.Firstly,the cognitive load theory and the teaching of similar triangles are summarized based on the review of literatures.Then the test paper was designed on students' homework exercises and the cognitive load was measured.Then,based on the in-depth interviews with teachers and students and the cognitive load theory,the similar triangle exercise teaching is designed to reduce students' external cognitive load and improve effective cognitive load.Finally,the teaching practice is carried out,and the feedback and suggestions on the teaching design are investigated through questionnaire.Based on the process and the result of research,the teaching suggestions are put forward that reducing the external load using of multimedia and teaching from "learning" for similar triangles problem solving.And from the perspective of cognitive load,learning suggestions are put forward that students learn to independently summarize scheme and improve the payload in the process of cognition thus to adapt to the change of the problem and its diversity,to improve the ability of analyzing and solving problems.
