Project-based Learning is a widely used teaching method in Europe and the United States,by solving complex problems based on real situations through group-based collaborative learning, and develops students' ability to be independent, exploratory, innovative, and so on.It meets the needs of deepening the curriculum reform in the new era. Therefore, the research on Project-based Learning has become more and more popular in recent years. The ability to solve complex problems is one of the necessary skills to meet the lifelong development of students and social development. However, there are few researches and practices on how to develop primary school students' ability to solve complex problems. This study reviews and summarizes the background and studies of the predecessors through the literature research method. It analyzes the research on the primary school teaching status through questionnaires and observation methods.and sorts out studies that based on related theories about Project-based Learning. On the basis of this, this paper proposes the exploration and practice of cultivating the Complex Problem Solving ability of primary school students based on Project-based Learning. The study takes Project-based Learning as the teaching mode, and uses Constructivist Theory,Discovery Learning theory and Situational Cognition Theory as the theoretical guidance, emphasizing the proactive "meaning construction" process of learners in real situations to achieve training targets.Pupils achieve learning goals that solve complex problems in a changing problem situation. This study is divided into five chapters as following:Chapter ?.Introduction.This chapter mainly introduces the background of research, the theoretical and practical significance of the research, and summarizes the current research situation.of Project-based Learning and Complex Problem Solving at home and abroad, determines the research content, selects research methods, and sorts out research ideas.Chapter ?.The concept and the theoretical basis. This chapter explains the concept of Project-based Learning and Complex Problem Solving, the basic elements and processes of Project-based Learning, and use the Cognitive Load Theory,Discovery Learning Theory, and Situational Cognitive Theory as the theoretical guidance.Chapter ?.Elements of Project-based Learning Design.Including the interpretation of the syllabus, the analysis of teachers' roles, the definition of learning objectives, the creation of problem situations, and the provision of learning support, and so on.Chapter ?.Case Design and Application.Take Why the wheel is round?" as an example of instructional design, the specific teaching links of the design case are applied to specific examples, and the research conclusions are analyzed through classroom observation and questionnaires.Chapter ?.Summarization and prospect. It mainly summarizes the study background and theory of this article, the practical significance of the study, and summarizes the current study situation.
