Problem-solving ability is an important ability for people to adapt to the social living environment and promote social innovation and development. The problemsolving ability of primary school students emphasizes training information awareness, digital learning and innovation ability from the learning experience. However, the current teaching models for the problem-solving ability of primary school students are mostly limited to the content of the curriculum, and are not connected with real life.In addition, the problem-solving ability of the learners is not externalized, which makes it difficult for teachers to observe and measure the problem-solving level of the learners. In response to the above-mentioned shortcomings, this research relies on project-based learning and uses open-source hardware teaching modules to explore a teaching model for primary school students' problem-solving ability. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1)Through literature analysis,we clarify the connotation and characteristics of problem-solving ability and project-based learning,as well as the current status of teaching and implementation of open source hardware. Then we clarify the research problem and sorts out the research content and ideas.(2)Based on related theories,we take the project-based learning process as the macro framework, and face the five stages of problem-solving capabilities: "discovering problems, analyzing problems, forming plans, executing plans, and evaluating and reflecting".The thesis takes the open source hardware course module as the theme, takes the learner as the center, and builds a new project-based teaching model for problem-solving ability training based on four design principles.(3)This thesis designed a comprehensive and accurate evaluation method of students' problemsolving ability. We measured the changes in the problem-solving ability of primary school students in terms of the level of problem-solving ability, the problem-solving process, the quality of project works, and learning satisfaction.(4)Under the guidance of the research model, this research carried out three rounds of quasi-experimental research. We take the three projects of "SOS Flashing Distress Device","Automatic Traffic Lights",and " Self-service Pedestrian Signal Light " as examples for practice. After that,we collect data from questionnaires, problem solving processes, interviews, etc.,and analyze the data to draw conclusions. After empirical research,it is found that:(1)The primary school open source hardware project-based learning model constructed in this research effectively improves learners' problem-solving skills, enhances learners' confidence in problemsolving, and improves learners' ability to characterize problems and propose solutions.(2)After the learners have experienced three rounds of empirical research, their learning gains, learning experience, learning satisfaction and other aspects are better.(3)The project-based learning mode has significantly improved the performance level of learners in asking questions, formulating plans, working in small groups, displaying results, and process reflection;(4)In addition,as the difficulty of the project has increased significantly, the quality of the work of the learners has gradually improved. In summary, the open-source hardware project-based learning model for elementary schools for problem-solving ability training proposed in this study has high feasibility in teaching situations and can effectively improve the problem-solving ability of primary school students. This research has enriched the training model of learners' problem-solving ability, has proved the feasibility and effectiveness of this model from the theoretical and practical levels, and can provide theoretical support and practical experience for related researches.
