| In recent years, the population migration in Anhui province has been characterized by the continuous backflow of the migrant population, and many small factories have appeared in the countryside. These small factories attract many migrant workers and left-behind women who choose to work at home. The appearance of new factories broke the silence of the countryside and overtime work became the norm. However,in the face of such objective exploitation, workers did not respond with fierce resistance, but agreed to the exploitation.Workers' participation in overtime work is the premise and basis of their consent. The research on the consent mechanism of overtime workers in small rural factories can provide practical significance for understanding the action logic of laborers. And it can be used to solve the problem of overtime work and protect workers' rights and interests, and to enrich the existing research on labor process and overtime work. From the Research perspective of labor process theory, this paper uses semi-structured interview and participatory observation method to get the first-hand information. The purpose of the study is to discuss the formation of workers' consent mechanism, and the role played by the industry market, factory managers and laborers,so as to understand the practical logic behind the overtime work of workers. The study found that there is a potential rule in the industry market, namely 'making out'production.Starting from the principle of efficiency, the 'making out' production is as same as the "making out" game. But the 'making out' production exists in industry markets, not just inside factories.Under the "'making out' production" rule, workers will develop an approval or compliance with overtime work.Secondly, the capitalist uses flexible management strategies to promote the formation of workers' consent mechanism, and managers make use of the social relationship, local customs and social identity of workers,so as to obtain the surplus value of the workers while concealing the surplus value. Finally, from the perspective of the subject of workers, the agreement of overtime work can be attributed to the attitude of subjective motivation and the objective social structure.Motivated to support their families and improve their lives, workers are willing to work overtime. In addition, the action-selection of workers is also constrained by structural factors.Based on such findings, this paper finally provides relevant service suggestions from the perspective of social work to protect workers' labor rights. |
