Physics is a natural science based on experiments.Physical experiments play a key role in the formation and development of physics.They are the source of the development of physics and the sole criterion for testing truth.With the gradual implementation of the core literacy of physics,schools and parents have begun to pay attention to the cultivation of students 'experimental inquiry ability.Among them,teachers are responsible for the main task of cultivating students' experimental inquiry ability in daily teaching.How to improve students' experimental inquiry ability through inquiry experiment teaching is a problem that every physics teacher must think about and solve.Firstly,in this article the author interview frontline physics teachers at the HeFei No.45 Middle School to understand the current status of school experimental teaching,the problems in teaching,and the shortcomings in the cultivation of students'experimental exploration ability.The interview result shows that due to that teachers are limited by the insufficient number of students' experimental equipment and the difficulty in grasping classroom discipline,demonstration experiments and playing experimental videos are still common methods in experimental teaching.The number of experimental investigations by students is still small,and the experimental investigation ability needs to be improved.Secondly,based on the literature investigation and theoretical learning,the students' experimental inquiry ability is summarized,with which training strategies such as creating an inquiry situation,guiding students to ask questions for experimental inquiry,improving experimental results,and promoting student communication and evaluation are proposed.And capabilities evaluation standards focusing on process evaluation and staged evaluation have been established.Thirdly,in order to put the theory into practice,the author designed the in-class inquiry experiment teaching process and the extra-curricular inquiry experiment teaching process according to the actual teaching experience.In-class inquiry experiment teaching process focuses on cultivating students' observational experiment ability,basic operation ability and information processing ability and the extracurricular exploratory experimental teaching process focuses on cultivating students' innovative and cooperative abilities.At the same time,the author has chosen three experimental topics,"Investigating the Law of Reflection of Light","Exploring the Law of Refraction of Light",and "Formation of Mirages" to implement these training plan.Last but not least,after a period of teaching practice,the author surveyed 243 students who participated in the study by way of questionnaires to understand the students' ability growth and experimental teaching effects.According to the survey results,after participating in the inquiry experiment activities,the students' experimental inquiry ability has been fully trained and improved,but the ability to design experiments and make plans based on inquiry problems still needs to be improved.
