Purposes:This study combines two relatively low-load KAATSU training with slow downhill walking exercises, and explore the physiological load on the body and effect on muscle hypertrophy of slow downhill walking training with KAATSU,providing a new training method for safe, easy and efficient muscle hypertrophy exercise. Methods:This study consists of two parts of systematic research.(1)Single KAATSU/no-KAATSU downhill walking exercise:recruit 16 healthy young male subjects were performed twice 10 minutes walking exercises on a treadmill at speed of 3 km/h and slope of-16%.The first is slow downhill walking without KAATSU(only bundled with KAATSU belt, not inflated),then the lower limbs are used with special KAATSU sports equipment for slow downhill walking(40 mmHg bundling pressure,240 mmHg barometric pressure).2 people a day,a total of 16 days, the same person was tested at least 4 weeks apart. The indicators change of lower limb swelling, electromyography(EMG),heart rate(HR),rating of perceived exertion(RPE),growth hormone(GH),cortisol(C),testosterone(T),lactate(Lac),urea(UREA)and creatine kinase(CK)were tested during exercise.(2)Comparative study of multiple KAATSU downhill walking training:The above 16 subjects were randomly divided into the KAATSU experimental group(KAATSU group,N=8)and the control group(CON group,N=8).The CON group walked downhill without KAATSU(only bundled with KAATSU belt, not inflated);the KAATSU experimental group was walked downhill under the condition of lower limb KAATSU(40mmHg binding pressure,240mmHg pneumatic pressure). The subjects performed 10 times downhill walking exercises in two weeks, once a day,5 times a week, and weekend rest. Both groups performed a 10-minute downhill walking exercise on a treadmill at a speed of 3 km/h and a slope of-16%.The isokinetic muscle peak torque was measured three days before and after the experiment. The fasting body composition was measured on the first day morning and the morning after the experiment, and the circumference of the lower limbs, heart rate and RPE before and after each exercise were measured and recordedResults:(1)EMG of the lateral femoral muscle, lateral gastrocnemius muscle and soleus muscle of a single KAATSU downhill walking exercise was significantly higher than that of the non-KAATSU downhill walking exercise(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the EMG of the tibialis anterior muscle(P>0.05).(2)HR and RPE of single KAATSU downhill walking exercise were significantly higher than those of no-KAATSU downhill walking exercise(P<0.05).(3)There was no significant change in serum CK and UREA before and after single KAATSU and no-KAATSU downhill walking exercise(P>0.05).(4)There was no significant change in blood hormones before and after single KAATSU and no-KAATSU downhill walking exercise(P>0.05),and serum cortisol decreased significantly after single KAATSU downhill walking(P<0.05).(5)Compared with the CON group, the lower limbs circumference of single KAATSU and multiple KAATSU downhill walking training was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the swelling effect was obvious.(6)After multiple KAATSU downhill walking training, the muscle mass and lower limbs muscle mass of the KAATSU group were significantly increased(P<0.05),but there was no significant change in the CON group(P>0.05).(7)After multiple KAATSU downhill walking training, the left and right knee extension and right knee flexion peak torque of the KAATSU group were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the left knee flexion did not change significantly(P>0.05).There was no significant change in peak torque of the CON group(P>0.05).Conclusions:(1)Single KAATSU downhill walking training can recruit more muscle fibers, and the circumference of the lower limbs is significantly increased.Local lactic accumulation produces muscle swelling effects.(2)The trend of blood hormone indicators was basically the same before and after single KAATSU and no-KAATSU downhill walking training, there was no significant difference, and serum cortisol showed a downward trend.(3)The heart rate of the KAATSU downhill walking exercise increased slightly, the RPE was relatively relaxed, and the cardiovascular system was less affected. The subjects could be easily completed and without increasing the micro-damage of the muscle.(4)After multiple times of KAATSU downhill walking training, the muscle volume, muscle mass and muscle strength increased, and the muscle hypertrophy effect was significant.
