Research On Emotional Labor Of Social Worker

When providing social work service,social workers,on the social or economic purpose,offer emotional comfort in response to the mental demand and the behavior of the people who receive the service,including adjusting the emotion which will be expressed or has been felt,and suppressing and expressing their real feelings.In other word,it's the emotional labor of social workers.However,in the long term,the emotional labor of social workers has not been attached great importance from a practical and theoretical perspective.This research,based on the Dramaturgical approach raised by Goffman,adopts document research method,discusses contents,forms,features and conflicts of social workers and discusses the response to the emotional labor conflicts of local supportive social workers,enabling local practical and theoretical experts of social study to pay more attention to the importance of emotional factors.This research discovers that contents,forms,features and conflicts of social labor provided by social workers at the production line not only affected by peculiarities of social work but also affected by the complexity of local traditional culture and interpersonal model.Firstly,sincerity,respect,neutrality,empathy,and self-express are the main expression of social labor when providing service.Secondly,emotional masking,emotional postponing and self-express are the three forms of emotional labor.Thirdly,the emotional labor of social workers is revealed as soft techniques,sociality,and adaptability.Fourthly,the conflicts of emotional labor are mainly reflected by reception,emotional neutrality,and emotional involvement.This research also points out that supportive social workers can be constructed by a knowledge system based on humanism,supported by the institutional emotional network and positive and active individual ability and introspection.The theory about contents,forms,features,and conflicts of emotional labor is beneficial to deepen the understanding of emotional factors of social study,and the response of possible negative consequence.Furthermore,it's no doubt that emotion wildly exists in social work and service.The degree of emotional labor offered by social workers is more outstanding than any other occupations which should be paid attention to by theoretical and practical experts.This research also points out that on the local condition,the core of professional social work is emotionality throughout its practice,sociality,and techniques.
