The Effect Mechanism Of The Motivation Toward The Environment On Pro-environmental Behavior | | Posted on:2021-03-19 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:S T Li | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2427330611469378 | Subject:Psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The growing globalization of environmental problems have caused widespread concern.From the perspective of the relationship between people and the environment,environmental problems are also human problems.The mode of production and lifestyle of human beings are important factors that cause environmental changes.Therefore,it has become an urgent important issue to raise people's awareness of environmental protection,promote the behavior of environmental protection and promote the coordinated development of people and the environment.From the perspective of "motivation" and " affect ",this study explored how individual motivation toward the environment affects pro-environmental behavior through anticipated affect.Based on the hypothesis that "individual motivation level can significantly affect one's own affective experience and thus affect pro-environmental behavior",an attempt was made to construct an impact mechanism model of individual pro-environmental behavior based on the perspective of "motivation-affect-behavior ".In addition,this study included pro-environmental self-identity as a moderating variable in the research model to explore the influence of individual self-identity on affect under motivation-driven.This study mainly included two sub-studies.Study 1 revised the motivation toward the environment scale and pro-environmental self-identity scale as well as developed the anticipated affect scale and proenvironmental behavior scale through the questionnaire surveys of 401(primary test)and 525(retest)Chinese undergraduate college students,so as to provide corresponding measurement tools for follow-up study.Study 2 explored the influence mechanism of pro-environmental behavior based on the perspective of “Motivation-Affect-Behavior” and the potential moderating effect of pro-environment self-identity on the “Motivation-Affect” influence path through a questionnaire survey of 531 Chinese undergraduate college students.This study drew the following conclusions:(1)The motivation toward the environment scale,pro-environmental self-identity scale,anticipated affect scale and pro-environmental behavior scale had good reliability and validity;(2)The motivation toward the environment,pro-environmental self-identity,anticipated affect and pro-environmental behavior had some differences in some demographic variables;(3)The anticipated affect played a partial mediating effect between some dimensions of the motivation toward the environment and private domain pro-environmental behavior;(4)The anticipated affect played a masking effect between some dimensions of the motivation toward the environment and public domain pro-environmental behavior;(5)The pro-environmental self-identity played a moderating effect between some dimensions of the motivation toward the environment and positive anticipated affect;(6)There were three influence paths in the private domain pro-environmental behavior,and two influence paths in the public domain. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Motivation Toward the Environment, Anticipated Affect, Pro-environmental Behavior, Pro-environmental Self-identity, Mediating Effect | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
