Instructional videos are the focus of current learning resource construction topics, but few studies focus on the refined design of videos from the perspective of knowledge classification. This study is based on multimedia cognitive theory and cognitive load theory, considers procedural knowledge video presentation elements from the psychological perspective of learners, and explores the impact of clues and subtitles presentation in multimedia materials on learners from an empirical perspective to optimize Video design promotes students' efficient learning and enhances learning results. This research first analyzes popular procedural knowledge videos in online online course platforms, and sorts out that there are currently two main presentation methods for procedural knowledge videos: graphic explanations of procedural knowledge videos and interface presentations of procedural knowledge videos, and Add clues and subtitles to these two videos to varying degrees.Taking this as a research question, this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on learners' subtitles and clues presentation preferences, and simultaneously designs two rounds of experiments on the effects of subtitles and clues presentation on the learning effects of two types of procedural knowledge. The experimental results show that subtitles and clues in the graphic explanation videos can improve the learning effect.Clues have a lower impact on the learner's cognitive load, and clues are more conducive to the learning of transfer tasks. It is also easier for learners to favor videos with both clues and subtitles.Adding subtitles to procedural knowledge videos of interface demonstrations has a positive effect on the retention of learners, and more clues have a better effect on transfer learning. At the same time, clues help reduce the cognitive load oflearners. Finally,in the learning satisfaction survey, learners said that videos with clues are more likely to produce an understanding of knowledge, and it is easier to obtain a good learning experience. It can be seen that in the process of procedural knowledge design, clues and subtitles do not cause information redundancy, especially for low-level learners.
