For a long time, the main goal of science education has been to cultivate citizens with scientific literacy. The views on nature of science,as an important component of scientific literacy, has received widespread attention from academic circles at home and abroad. The existing research shows that the views on nature of science of high school students in China is still at a low level, and the status quo is not optimistic.Integrating the history of science into science teaching is a widely recognized means of improving the views on nature of science of students. However, the views on nature of science of high school teachers and the reserve of materials for scientific history restrict the development of teaching work based on the history of science.Based on this situation, this study takes students from two classes in the first grade of Tianxinghu High School in Nantong City,Jiangsu Province as a research sample. This study took the "Electromagnetic Induction" as an example and mined the scientific history materials contained in it.The PEHDSR model was used for teaching design and teaching practice was carried out. Before and after the teaching practice, the Wisconsin Inventory of Science Process was used to conduct the pretest and post-test of the students' views on nature of science. The study carried out the following work: Firstly,it reviews the research process and achievements of the research on nature of science at home and abroad;Secondly, the Wisconsin Science Process Scale was used to test students from two classes in the first grade. The analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the views on nature of science of the two classes, and the overall level is low;Thirdly, with reference to domestic and foreign literature, the materials of scientific history involved in the chapter “Electromagnetic Induction” were sorted out;Fourthly, based on the PEHDSR model, the teaching design and the teaching practice was carried out. After the completion of the practice, the Wisconsin Inventory of Science Process was used for post-testing.The results of SPSS analysis showed that the teaching practice based on the history of science has no significant impact in the overall view of students' views on nature of science in the experimental group.Students' understanding of three dimensions of the views on nature of science has improved significantly;Fifthly, based on the results of the students before and after the test,8 students were selected for interviews to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the students' scientific essence. This study concluded that there was no significant change in the overall view of students ' views on nature of science in the experimental group.Students ' understanding of three dimensions of the views on nature of science including "the world and natural phenomena are stable","scientists are objective" and "scientific observations are sometimes unpredictable" have improved significantly.Further interviews showed that students generally welcomed this teaching model. On the basis of the above work, this study puts forward suggestions for the teaching of the nature of science:First,we should study the status quo of the scientific essence of high school students in China;Second,we must localize the evaluation tools of nature of science;Third,it is necessary to sort out the scientific history materials involved in high school physics.
