The Expression Of Nostalgia And Its Changes In Contemporary Society

Since the central conference on urbanization in 2013 put forward the idea of "remembering the fine traditional Chinese culture in the old villages" in an official document for the first time,a new wave of "nostalgia" has been aroused in the society.Compared with the expression of homesickness in traditional society,the expression and meaning of contemporary nostalgia has changed a lot in the context of modernization and globalization.This research revolves around the television documentary Tracing Heritage.Analyzing the content of the television works,summarizing the characteristics of modern homesickness expressed,comparing with traditional society of the homesickness expressed and summing up the implications of changes in nostalgia.According to the different characteristics of the era of the analysis of the main reasons for these changes.After careful analysis,the author believes that the traditional expression of "nostalgia" is mainly carried out in the context of rural production and life,while the expression of nostalgia in modern society has transcended the space-time and even the original context of living villages and emerged in a way of reconstruction,reproduction and multi-meaning.In contemporary society,the meaning change of homesickness is mainly reflected in the following three aspects: first,the object of nostalgia has changed from geographical space to historical time.The object of nostalgia is no longer limited to hometown,relatives and friends,but the reminiscence and remembrance of traditional civilization;Furthermore,the causes of nostalgia have changed from the change of geographical space and the dilemma of reality to the pressure and modern anxiety of modern society.Traditional social nostalgia arises from the homesickness for home after leaving home,which is often further amplified when one experiences loneliness and difficulties.In modern times,nostalgia is caused by the huge pressure of modern society and the difference in life style and cultural concept that is totally different from traditional local society.Finally,nostalgia in the era of value from the traditional social individual psychological level to expand to the whole social development level,homesickness is no longer the source of strength after individuals left their villages,but the world of self-reflection and the pursuit of self-identity when facing globalization and modernization of the world in modern society,which has important inspiration significance to the development of the society as a whole.This study reminds us that nostalgia in the modern society,as a psychological defense mechanism against the anxiety of modernity,have an aesthetic function.In this kind of aesthetic nostalgia complex,how to balance local differences between imagination and reality,make people in the modern society to feel "This peace of mind is my hometown",is the problem that our modern society needs to constantly to think and explore.
