A Study On The Execution Of Counselors' Duties To Respond To Campus Crisis In Universities And Colleges

College crisis is an uncertain situation and an event that seriously threatens the self-interest of teachers and students and normal development of colleges and is likely to bring destructive consequences.As an important force to deal with campus crisis,college counselors should perform their function actively,which is not only the core to improve their work efficiency,but also the inevitable requirement of maintaining the stable and healthy development of colleges and universities.By taking China University of Mining and Technology as an example,it is found that college counselors have made some achievement in coping with campus crisis events,including attaching great importance to coping with crisis events in ideology;forming positive attitude towards making crisis plans;taking actions immediately when a crisis happens;enhancing the consciousness of making reflections on crisis.But there are still some problems actually.The basic safety education still has many deficiencies;participating in making crisis plan and carrying out crisis exercise is not satisfactory;the ability to deal with campus crisis is obviously insufficient and the response to the aftermath of the crisis is not yet in place.The causes of these problems are mainly listed as follows.The job function of counselors is severely generalized;the counselors make improper understanding of crisis lacking proficient skills;the counselors are generally young and lack relevant experience;the complex and sudden occurrence of campus crisis increases the difficulty of coping with it.In view of these problems and their causes,the measures to improve the response of college counselors to campus crisis events include firmly establishing the sense of management and service and scientifically locating the responsibility of dealing with crisis events;carrying out safety education and strengthening students' awareness of crisis prevention;actively participating in the preparation and exercise of crisis plan and doing a good job in information collection and reporting of crisis;enhancing the ability to deal with crisis events and improving psychological quality;paying attention to the aftermath of the crisis and carrying out the mission of rebuilding and summarizing;actively participating in the training and learning of crisis response knowledge and actively carrying out crisis response theory research.
