"Non-metals and their compounds" is listed in chapter 4 of the compulsory one in high school chemistry textbook in the PEP edition. This chapter not only cultivates students' material research methods but also lays a foundation for the formation of the concept of element family, and also for the study of chemical reaction principles,so it occupies an important position in high school chemistry. At the same time, the knowledge structure of this chapter is complicated, complex and numerous, which makes it difficult for students who have not yet fully matured in abstract thinking and analytical problem-solving skills,to master this part of the knowledge, and they have some difficulties learning and applying knowledge. In this paper, through the investigation and research of the students' difficulties in the study of "non-metals and their compounds",the main reasons for the difficulties are found, and the teaching countermeasures for the difficulties in conversion are proposed.First,a questionnaire survey and interviews are conducted with high school chemistry teachers to understand the learning difficulties of students in the process of learning "non-metals and their compounds" from the teacher's perspective, and a student version of the questionnaire is created based on the results.Second, the "Non-metal and Compound Learning Difficulty Questionnaire" is applied to 2 classes in senior Two and 2 classes in senior.Three, and targeted case interviews are conducted to deeply explore students 'learning difficulties in "non-metals and their compounds" through the questionnaire questions.Third, through interviews and survey data, this paper analyzes the reasons for students' learning difficulties, and put forward corresponding teaching strategies with the help of literature and teaching suggestions of front-line teachers.Through the analysis of the test results,it is concluded that the reasons for students' learning difficulties in learning "non-metals and theircompounds" include the following three aspects.First, the knowledge is complicated, complex and abundant.Second, ignore the practice of chemical experiments.Third, student's "learning ability" appears stratified, and the research proposes that in view of the problems in teaching, teachers can transform learning difficulties through teaching strategies. For the teaching of chapter on non-metals and their compounds, bridging education can be used to connect the old knowledge with the new knowledge according to the students' actual situation, thus reducing the "level" of teaching; For experiment teaching, certain situational teaching can be used,so that students can be integrated into the experimental situation,in the chemistry teaching environment to cultivate disciplinary thinking;for complex knowledge simple and convenient methods are used to help students learn to sort out knowledge points during the learning process, such as using mind mapping;for students with different levels, different levels of homework are used to train them.At the end,the teaching design is demonstrated by taking nitrogen element as an example. The main reason for students' learning difficulties in this chapter is the poor coordination between "teaching" and "learning".The solution to the problem of learning difficulties in the process of teaching and learning is the fundamental for students to fully master the subject knowledge, master the problem-solving ability and cultivate their interests the subject.Teachers can use the detected "learning difficulties" as the lead in the teaching process, and use the proposed "teaching strategies" as the "direction" in the teaching process,so as to improve the students' learning effect of basic knowledge in the chapter of non-metal and compound, develop learning skills and strive to improve the teaching quality.
