As a talent training and using mechanism, postdoctoral system plays an important role in promoting the development of building an innovative country. However, the existing research tends to the macro institutional analysis, and there is little research on the academic development of the overseas returnees and the local Humanities and Social Sciences postdoctoral groups. In addition to the lack of specific current research, there is also a lack of in-depth research on the differences between the two groups. The study uses content analysis, questionnaire survey and interview method to explore the current situation and differences of academic development between overseas returnees and local postdoctorate, and comprehensively and carefully investigate the influencing factors of the academic development of the two types of talents. This study combed the postdoctoral system at home and abroad, focused on the analysis of the national and "Double First-Class" University postdoctoral system recruitment, management and evaluation policies, used questionnaire survey method to analyze the academic development status and influencing factors of 125 overseas returnees and local Humanities and Social Sciences postdoctorate, and interviewed 15 postdoctoral candidates to deeply explore the reasons for the selection of two types of talents and their academic development performance And influencing factors. The main conclusions are as follows:First, the foreign postdoctoral system has formed a mature scientific research service system, which provides full academic support for postdoctoral growth as an independent researcher. The Chinese postdoctoral system strengthens scientific research assessment while providing system guarantee.Second, doctoral graduates regard postdoctoral work as the transition period, the buffer period and the trial period, and their work motivation is mainly career transition.Third, the university not only implements the quantitative evaluation and result oriented evaluation system for postdoctoral students, but also provides academic support in academic exchange, scientific research environment, scientific research funds and teacher development. At the same time, postdoctoral cooperative tutors and colleagues provide academic development support.Fourth, the academic development differences between overseas returnees and local postdoctorate in Humanities and social sciences are reflected in academic achievements, academic publications, research projects and career choices. In addition to the obvious advantages of English academic publications, overseas returnees are weaker than local postdoctorate in other academic development, and there are problems in academic environment adaptation. This study compares the differences in academic development between overseas returnees and local postdoctoral scholars in terms of internal academic achievements, academic publications, research projects and career choices, and analyzes the factors influencing the academic development of Humanities and Social Sciences postdoctoral scholars from the perspective of the interaction of system, organization and individual subjective initiative factors. The postdoctoral system plays a role of management and guarantee for postdoctoral scholars, and postdoctoral and university are mutually beneficial In terms of utilization, postdoctoral students rely on academic resources obtained by universities to complete their postdoctoral work and prepare for the coming academic career.Universities attract outstanding postdoctoral students to work in universities through advantageous discipline platform and scientific research environment, and stipulate the work requirements of postdoctoral students during their stay through system assessment to realize the development of universities. The combination of qualitative and quantitative methods will further expand the research of postdoctoral academic development.
